IIM Ranchi had the privilege of connecting with Ms. Nibhrata Desh, from TISS Mumbai, who worked at Aditya Birla Group in their coveted Aditya Birla Group Leadership Programs (ABGLP), where she shared her experience of working with one of India's biggest conglomerates.  The elite program is designed to groom talented individuals with exceptional analytical thinking, strategic management, and people skills to be future HR leaders of ABG. Having worked in Human Resources, she started off by describing the overall experience throughout ABGLP as a learning curve for her, on both personal and professional front. Hailing from the premier institute of Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS), she realized the lofty expectations she carried and how the positive work culture at ABG drove her to push the envelope in all perspectives, giving way for practical solutions from out-of-the-box business ideas. Talking about the culture at ABG, Nibhrata emphasized how the organization is welcoming of the younger generation with the dynamic environment that comes with it, which contributes to positivity in the organization. Along with gaining valuable insights under the tutelage of experienced senior leaders at Aditya Birla Group, she also stated the peer learning that came from working with the students of other premier B-schools. On a side note, she mentioned all the social gatherings she enjoyed during her tenure and the interaction with peers in an informal setting that ensued a stronger bond with everyone working around. On being asked about the best thing about ABGLP, Nibhrata was quick to mention the immense exposure that ABGLP provides while working in different stints throughout the program, making it one of the best leadership programs in the corporate business. She accentuated how ABGLP offers an ideal platform for diverse profiles in a limited time period. She particularly mentioned how this aspect of ABGLP made it easy for her to pursue the desired profile of her interest. Nibhrata had a very interesting perspective when asked about her view on HR analytics. She defined HR analytics as an expression of a problem in the form of data. She stated how HR analytics can be crucial for you in convincing others by organizing your views in the form of data helped by graphical representation. According to her, HR analytics juxtaposed with a clear mind is a win-win situation! On being questioned about automation in HR, she expressed some aspects that have a scope in automation in the organization. She felt the most important factor when considering automation should be - what to automate and why to automate. When further asked about the expectations from ABGLP, she exclaimed how she was looking forward to a fun-filled learning experience from each and every stint at ABG. She felt the ideal outcome for her would be to resonate with one of the HR verticals she wants to settle in, at the end of the program. On the closing note, when asked about any tips for aspiring candidates joining ABGLP, Nibhrata stated that rationality in a person who can put ideas in a powerful and convincing manner will take him/her a long way in his/her career. Most importantly, she felt, was having the necessary business acumen to drive the organization to thrive in a corporate juggernaut like ABG. She had a special word for all the females out there to be independent, bold and strong which would help them when working in the corporate world. "With great power, comes great responsibility", they say, and ABG is no stranger to this. The responsibility of taking on the mantle of grooming the talent into future leaders from the very beginning of their careers is what defines ABGLP. Aditya Birla Group's strength lies in the diversity of people, their thoughts and experiences. IIM Ranchi believes in the same, with its multifarious batch comprising of students from all walks of life. IIM Ranchi has always strived for integrity and commitment backed up by the passionate student fraternity for the holistic development of the individual institution and society at large which resonates with the core values of a huge conglomerate like ABG in more ways than one.
