Why Aditya Birla Group Is Big In Your Life?
Aditya Birla Group is one of the first multinational corporations in India. It is also the third-largest private conglomerate in India. The group has varied interests in cement, aluminium, textiles, fashion and also has expanded to telecom, IT and finance. The primary way how the ABL group has impacted my life is with their large variety of premium apparel like Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Louis Philippe, and Peter England. Pantaloons, a significant player in the fashion retail industry, is owned by the Aditya Birla Group. It is the go-to place for all my clothing needs as it offers quality products at a reasonable price. ABGL group also has many other brands like Forever 21, Planet Fashion, Madura Fashion, and Lifestyle under it. It won't be wrong to say that the ABGL group is responsible for how most Indians dress. Everyone in my family has at least a few clothes sold by brands owned by ABL group. Apart from this, even my own home was built with UltraTech Cement, an Aditya Birla Group company. Another major area of my life in which the ABL Group has influenced me is how I communicate with my family and friends. Idea Cellular, after merging with Vodafone India has become India's reliable telecom operator in India. In the last six years, I have lived in lots of places, but the IDEA network has never disappointed me. It is overall the best mobile network I used when it comes to both data and cellular coverage. The signals are perfect even in remote places when compared with Airtel and Docomo. Thus, I believe the ABGL Group is a big part of my life, and I will be lucky to work under such a prestigious company.
How have I made an impact?
I come from a middle-class family from a small town in Odisha. I cleared my matriculation from a mediocre school. From my childhood, I always wanted to achieve something big. Since I achieved a complete 10 out of 10 CGPA in Matriculation, I was able to get into a very prestigious intermediate college. Around this time my grandmother's health was becoming worse and it was a big hit to my family's financial condition. I realized my father's condition and worked hard to secure a scholarship. My hard work paid off and I got into one of the best government colleges in Odisha with one-fourth of the fees paid in scholarship. The four years I spent there were one of the best in my life. I interacted with people from all parts of India and that truly changed how I saw the world around me. I realized to be successful in life, I need to have a goal and I have to do at least something every-day that brings me closer to that goal. I decided my goal was to become a leader of a big team of a prestigious company. My B.Tech Degree gave me the required technical skills. But I still lacked the managerial skills needed to achieve my goals.
At that point, I started preparing for CAT. I cleared both the exam and the interview on my first try. At first, my family was sceptical. But with my brother's help, I was able to convince them that this would make me a better person and they agreed. After coming to IIMR, I readily accustomed to the culture and my passion for badminton helped me become a member of the sports committee. In summer, I also did my internship at Reserve Bank of India, a privilege not many experience. I can confidently say all the obstacles in my life have strengthened me. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
