PART-A Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your Life?
The Aditya Birla Group is one of the oldest conglomerates in India, almost 150 years old. It would not be wrong to say that this company has played a pivotal role in nation-building and has, in turn, affected the life of Indians as well.
Although there is n number of brands by the company but the sector that catches my attention the most is the clothing sector of the company. With their own in house brands as well as their acquired brands like Louis Phillipe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, they have actually changed the way an average Indian dresses. Also with Indian Brands like Grasim suiting, ABG group was able to penetrate more to every house of the country. Thus, this was one big change that I observed around me and also had a big impact.
Apart from bringing a cultural shift in the country with the clothing, the group is also immensely contributing through its CSR activities. These activities have impacted millions in our country. ABG groups are one of the few groups who is working in close collaboration with WHO, EU, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, FICCI, NABARD across 5000 villages and serving up to 7.5 million people every year. They also have one of the largest workforce especially dedicated to the CSR activities with 150 qualified professionals and 1000 ground workers.
It is commendable that the company has maintained the same values throughout its journey which also includes many ups and downs but still is continuously involved in impacting the lives of so many people in our country.
PART-B
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far.
What I believe from my limited knowledge and experience is that one should always believe in being persistent and not shy away from taking crucial decisions. These were basically the two things which have always held me back in life from trying new things and exploring my capabilities.
Initially, I used to be a guy who always had his plans ready for life and never took a risk in almost anything. If I talk about my career, my path was already set and there were no grey areas as what I wanted to do. However, during my final year of engineering, I failed miserably in the CAT exam and thus the only choice left for me was to continue my job. However, that was the first time when I had to do something that I did not want to do. Therefore, I had to make the decision whether should I go with my job or prepare for CAT once again. It was my decision making at that point of time that made all the difference. I decided not to join the job and prepare for CAT again. Although there were people who advised me otherwise and also I was low on confidence, still I did not change my decision. I took my chances and worked very hard. Had I failed, I would have been in a no man’s land. However, fortunately, I succeeded and ultimately got admission in an IIM.
Now, when I reflect back upon those times I realized that being persistent in life and taking the right decisions at the right moment can take you places. They will not only make you a mature person but also help you overcome your challenges.
