Aditya Birla Group and my life
My tryst with Aditya Birla Group started in 2004 when my father brought an Escotel sim. Escotel was litter merge with Idea and idea became our service provider. My father was a government servant hence frequent transfers were a compulsion. So relatives became more distant and friends were becoming stranger. The “idea” changed my life. Although call rates at that time were high but idea had lowest call rate at that time. This cellular relationship is continued till date. At present also I am proud owner of a Vodafone sim-card.
Not only in communication matters but when it comes to fashion Aditya Birla Group comes to my mind. Go to one of its subsidiaries, i.e. Pantaloons and you will find everything you can wish for. Most of all I am someone who had zero fashion sense and Pantaloons with its staff is always helpful.
My degree of graduation is Paper and Pulp technology; I have studied till class 7
th in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand. Combine these two and you get only one name i.e. “Century Paper Mills”. My best friend had interned there. Our final year project was based on Century’s paper production operation. This is another way Aditya Birla Group has impacted my life.
If I consider indirect effects, I think it’s uncountable. From helping to solve non performing asset problem of banks to providing digital inclusion through payment bank, Aditya Birla group has become an engine for national growth. HINDALCO, another business of Aditya Birla Group is one of leading producer of aluminum which acts as a growth pole for various other industries like aviation etc.
Victor Hugo has said, “Nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come.” And Aditya Birla Group is one such idea.
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far
“Aham Brahmasmi” – I am Brahma. This was the shloka which was taught to me by my father from very small age. This means that god resides inside me. So there is no possible task which I can’t do. But life is not so rosy is it?
I am not one of the most intelligent or a natural born genius. But I am hardworking and persistent. My ambition since childhood was to touch the poorest of the poor. And the path I chose first was IIT. But road was not that easy. My first attempt and I failed miserably. But then I collected my courage and with dedication and optimism started studying 16 hours a day. In between a person closest to my heart died. My parents didn’t tell me this for 2 days. But when I got to know, I cried straight for three days. But then I took this as motivation and cracked IIT JEE.
After IIT destiny took me to roads of UPSC Civil Services Examination. I was giving this exam year after year and like unrequited love, I was being rejected by UPSC. Every defeat inflicted new wound. And every wound became a motivation for me. The will to contribute to society became stronger.
And this will led me to gates of IIM Kashipur. But the path doesn’t here. As it is said, “I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep”.
