Part A:-January 2019- The time for people to snuggle in warm clothes and blankets, but it is not the time to take rest for the anxious MBA aspirants. They eagerly wait for the entrance exam results such as CAT, SNAP etc. I was also one of amongst the lot. As the results started coming in and I received calls, so the next step was to prepare for the upcoming interview rounds. It involved a lot of mock gd-pi sessions but there was something else also that had to be taken care of. Yes, it was to abide by the formal dress code as per the B-school norms. Having had no experience of the formal dress code in the undergraduation I was pretty much clueless about it. Also, being from a tier-2 city (Bhopal) I thought that I would have to search online. Nevertheless, my parents took me to the nearby mall to explore the options. As we went through different brands I was shocked to see that the options pertaining to women’s formal wear were quite limited. However, a salesperson suggested us to go look for the same in the Allen Solly store. When I went there I was happy to see that there was a dedicated formal wear store for women i.e., Allen Solly Women. The salesgirl there was really courteous and helped me out with good suggestions. Also, there were a lot of options to choose from in all the categories. Needless to say that I went to that store again after securing admission at SIBM-B.
Part B:- My struggles and how I chose to cope up with them
From my childhood itself I was a shy and introvert person. Although I was good at studies but one suggestion that my perents consistently got from my teachers' was to let me open up a bit. So they tried it all, from enrolling me for extra-curricular activities to sports. I did it all but from the confines of my comfort zone. I made some friends and used to stick around with them. However, this changed during my engineering days when I realized that I need to make an attitude shift so as to learn and grow. So I made sure that during those 4 years I talk to almost everyone on the campus, from batchmates to seniors, juniors and other colleges also that present on the campus. This helped me develop a broader perspective and to learn from the experiences of my peers. In the process, I also made some good friends and now also we keep in touch. So I believe that the inner motivation and push that I decided to give myself helped me a lot.
