Part A -
When adolescence hits, most people will have a drastic change in their dressing style. I was no exception and craved for clothes of my choice. So after nagging for more than three months for
A Check Shirt, my father bought me a
PETER ENGLAND shirt. At that time I didn’t have much knowledge about these brands but I was happy because I thought the shirt gifted by my dad was from England. I know it sounds silly, but that was the time my craze for check shirts started. Later I came to know about the brand and the fact it wasn't from England. Rather it had an Indian parent company Aditya Birla Group and there are more brands which actually come under ABG like Allen Solly, FOREVER 21, LOUISE PHILIPPE, VAN HESEN etc. It was then I realised MORE, the shop we buy our monthly groceries also comes under ABG. Oh, wait!! Even my network connection, Vodafone Idea is owned by ABG. That's when I googled and found out that Aditya Birla Group is presented in 34 countries in the world employing more than 1.2 lakh from 42 different nationalities. Globally ABG stands No. 1 in Aluminium Rollings, VISCOSE Staple Fabric, Carbon Black. No. 2 in the Telecom industry and No. 3 in Cement Industry. By their excellence, they are able to achieve from $2 billion to $48.3 billion company. If I am not wrong I am surrounded by the products and services offered by ABG and some of the names were unknown to me.
If we look closer, we will find ABG is hidden somewhere in our room, school, college, office or out in Nature.
Part B -
All Eyes were on Me
Let me take you to the time when I was working in a Private Railway Construction Company. Over there I was working as an Accountant cum Admin who was responsible for all the bank transactions and helping the HR tin maintaining the payrolls of all the employees from HQ to various sites. Once a situation came up, where I was in a dilemma between choosing salary of Indore site employees who haven’t been paid for last two months and our Material supplier who was supposed to get one of his payments out of other few dues. The pressure was coming from both the sides as employees and workers from Indore site started to go for a strike and on the other hand, the supplier was about to blacklist us from all the future businesses. At that time the companies bank account had a cash crunch and limited amount was left in bank, which could solve only one of the problems. Upon discussing with the senior department, the decision was left to be taken by me and then
All eyes were on me.
Considering all the factors, I decided to first clear out the dues of the Employees and workers for our Indore site. This ultimately resulted in a smooth finish of the work at Indore site. On completion of the Indore site work, we received the work completion cost in no time which helped to clear out the dues of the Supplier.
In our life, we will be facing many challenges in every step or decision we take. And there will be situations where we have to choose between two options. At that moment we need to analyse which option is more important to us in future and make the decision accordingly. It's we who have to set our priorities straight.
