Aditya Birla Group is a brand that has been at the forefront of change and innovation for
a long time. Ever since my childhood, it has been one of the talked about brands in the
social circles and it’s products have had a tremendous impact on people of all age
groups. It’s a brand that I’ve read about and been influenced by to a good extent. It’s
mission as a brand and the sense of responsibility it has exhibited over the course of its
existence is highly commendable and I hope it continues to stay that way in the future.
I grew up in a family in which both my parents work for State Bank of India. Due to the
nature of their jobs, they got transferred from one place to another on a regular basis.
This was a challenging prospect for me growing up - trying to get used to new places
and environments, leaving behind the friendships that I had formed, the neighbourhood
that I had gotten used to.. was hard, but in turn it shaped me up to learn how to deal
with changes in the environment from a very early age.
After completing my Graduation, I got placed in a multinational IT company. However,
after working in the company for a while I felt that the growth prospects in the company
were not as good as I had once anticipated. I had to make a difficult decision between
looking for other job prospects or starting the preparation for Management Exams and
trying to get into a reputable Management Institute. It was a particularly difficult decision
as my family weren’t optimistic of my decisions to pursue a Masters in Business
Administration (MBA) and rather advised me to look for other career options. I had
carefully analysed my strengths and weaknesses as an individual and as a professional
and was convinced that MBA was the course of action that I should be taking at this
point in my life. Backing myself and being aware of the risks I was about to face, I quit
my job and started preparing for Management Exams, and was able to make it to IIM
Raipur. The challenges that I’ve faced in my life thus far has made me a better and
more focused person.
