“Our mission has always been to be leaders in each of our businesses, which is one, two, or three.” – Kumar Mangalam Birla Just as rightly said, Aditya Birla Group has always proved to be the leader, irrespective of the many services it cater to its clients or customers. From cement to non-ferrous metals and textiles to fashion, Aditya Birla Group has left no stoned unturned and no industry untouched. It is an Indian multinational conglomerate, and has been operating in 35 counties across the world since its inception in 1857, celebrating 162 years of success.

UltraTech, a brand that would first hit your mind when someone speaks of cement. Aditya Birla Group has come up with amazing marketing slogans, illustrate the caption of Idea, “Ek Idea jo badal de aapki duniya.” With strategies like these, Aditya Birla Group has managed to settle their brand image in the minds and hearts of its customers.

As a kid, I always liked shopping in Pantaloons. Things haven’t changed now. Just a month ago, I remember visiting various apparel stores to get myself business formals that would be needed for the important business sessions during my MBA course in IIM Trichy. I saw no option other than brands like Allen Solly and Van Heusen, the in-house apparels sold by Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. Hence I’d say Aditya Birla Group has proved to be my lifestyle.

Aditya Birla Group ventured into financial services to provide services like life insurance, asset management, wealth management and distribution, lending, housing finance, health insurance business etc. Aditya Birla Financial Services Group was then ranked among the top five fund managers in India with AUM (Asset Under Management) of $23 bn. Aditya Birla Group also entered into a joint venture with AT&T (America based world’s largest telecommunication company). Later, Idea merged with Vodafone to become the largest telecom company in respect of subscribers and revenue, surpassing other leading telecommunication and service providers in the Indian market. Therefore, it wouldn’t be wrong to state that for me, Aditya Birla Group is a promise, to provide me with necessities in all walks of my life.

When I think of challenges, there are various situations that I’ve encountered. One as bad as an incident. To talk about the same, I was eight years old when a high tension wire (as it is said) fell on my left arm. It was burnt to an extent that it had to amputated. My entire family was in shambles. Little did I know that this was only the beginning to tackle what was to come next. Suddenly, easiest of the things were difficult to handle. It took practice and implementation to complete simplest of the tasks. However, overtime, I became adept at doing everything by myself. I could do about anything that a normal person could, with just a little more time, and practice. This gave me a chance to generate and come up with ideas, that would help me get through difficult situations. Additionally, I’m grateful to people who always supported me and stood by my side when things were topsy-turvy.

I would have never known the qualities I possessed, had this accident not occurred to me. I now know that I have an amazing willpower and I can courageously take over situations without being disappointed by my failures. I apply the quote “failure comes to those who try.”  Failure, definitely, is an indicator that I did put my efforts and that doesn’t just end there until I complete the task and excel it. Instead of calling it an accident, I’d rather call it an experience, which has changed my perception, made me more compassionate yet determined and optimistic in the face of the world. MBA from an institute like IIM Trichy is an ambition in itself and my abilities have played a fulcrum role in getting me here. I’m looking forward to more situations that need to be looked upon and a career full of opportunities leading me to my ambitions.
