I belong to the small city Hoshiarpur which is in Punjab. When I was in 12
th class, the “MORE” supermarket was opened just 500m away from my home. On exploring it that evening I came to know that it is of the Aditya Birla Group.
From the young age I have known that Birla’s and Tata’s have played prominent role in shaping the market of country but never realized how. Out of curiosity I searched about the products associated with Aditya Birla Groups (ABG) and to my astonishment, I have been using a lot of them without knowing the prominent ownership of the products.
At that age my typical day started in the morning getting ready for school. My mother packed my lunch in “freshwrap”, a product of Hindalco. In my vicinity, one family was constructing the home and there I saw “Ultratech Cement”. On my way to school, there were showrooms of “Peter England”, “Louis Phillipe”, “Van Heusen” from which I have bought my apparels before. Sense of realization that these products which I had been using for so long is actually the products of one group really gives you thrill.
More research on their products made me realize that they were everywhere. From mining the raw materials like bauxite or chemicals which can be used in making tires etc. to the finished products like apparels and now the services like supermarket and “idea” (telecommunication industry). ABG is catering the needs of customers of every segment. So, to answer how ABG impacted my life? Well I will say they became part of my life.
