PART A: Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?
“The goal isn’t to live forever; The goal is to create something that will.” These were the words of the legendary leader of Aditya Birla Group: Mr. B. K. Birla, who played a key role in a slew of business initiatives and in creating several educational institutions of repute, unfortunately, died just a few days ago this year. There is no doubt that the group has managed to get into the mind of Indians by their highly diversified product ranges. Frankly speaking, I just know the name of the group for a long time because of their reputation but when I dug a little deeper about the group, I got to know that many of my shopping lists are attributed by ABG. From Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Pantaloons, Ralph Lauren to Grasim, freshwrapp, Vodafone, UltraTech. You name it they have it.
I still remember my initial days of hunt for my first job in the last year of my graduation. I didn’t have a proper formal shirt. And what came to my rescue was the nearby Peter England showroom where their quality stuff attracted me in one strike. And now I am a loyal customer of ABG apparel because of their plethora of premium brands and outlets.
This is surely a part of my nostalgia contributed by the ABG but it is more than just a purchase of apparel. It is a feeling of providing new confidence to a young boy like me and millions of youth of India who wants to achieve something in life and contribute to the nation one day.
Part B: How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambition in life so far?
Like all others, I have my share of challenges and achievements so far. The most significant challenge I have faced so far was when I was in the 2nd year of my graduation. My father was diagnosed with kidney failure and was prescribed dialysis procedure thrice a week. It was the worst shock I and my family could get. I used to take him to the hospital for dialysis, regular consultation, and tests. Apart from the mental pain of watching a close one’s condition getting worse slowly and slowly every day, I was physically exhausted. This made my grades suffer and attendance in college was very low for 2 straight semesters to the point that I might have to skip a semester at that time.
However, I tried to remain calm and composed as my father did even in that condition. And I learned that by doing so we can resolve difficult situations or at least can tackle it to the best of our potential. By thinking practically, I systematically planned in advance, studied whenever I got time, distributed medical care time and responsibility among family members, etc. Many times, I used to think that I would not be able to do all these things alone but I did. My father was operated and well now. I also had completed my graduation, done well in my job and now pursuing MBA from one of the top B-School of India: DMS, IIT Delhi.
