“We are #Biginyourlife,” Aditya Birla Group perfectly reflects this tagline. A conglomerate which has been a part of the millions of peoples’ lives in India and across the world, not in one way but in many. Very few people are left untouched by them in India and I am not one of those exceptions.
According to me, a person’s house is the only non-living thing which he/she loves as much as the family members. It holds our childhood memories, which are so special that they are worth living again. For me, my house shaped my childhood, protected me and my family from environmental catastrophes such as floods, rains, scorching heat, and shivering cold. Today, my house is still standing unharmed and ready to serve more. I am born and brought up in the house which stands on the rock-solid base, made from Ultratech cement, a product of the ABG. I’m thankful to Ultratech cement, for putting this unbound strength in my house. I remember when my friend and I were playing outside my house, in an era of landline phones, few workers came to fix a telephone connection box outside the boundary wall. When they were hammering the thick nails into the wall, the nails broke again and again. The worker looked towards me and said, “Is it cement or steel?” The nails didn’t break when they were being fixed onto my neighbours’ wall. Overflowing with curiosity, I ran to my father and asked him the reason behind this. My father replied subtly, “ Chalo India Banaye, Ultratech Cement its engineers choice.” I didn’t understand him then, but after growing up, I realize that the power and robustness in my house’s wall were due to Ultratech Cement.
Time passed and I researched more about the ABG. I realized that the clothes I wear are also from ABG. Not only that, but there are other products also like Aluminium, Iron, Cellular network, etc, under their hood. Actually, we are surrounded by their products knowingly or unknowingly.
The ABG is affecting the lives of Indians in a subtly beautiful manner, in many aspects. Hence, I can substantially say that ABG is #BigInMylife.
My health issues started on 2nd September 2010, and a month later I was diagnosed with Tuberculosis. Doctors put me on quarantine for 2 months. I had my 12th board examination and the highly competitive JEE mains in 5 months time. I was underprepared for both the career-shaping examinations. Finally, after a mentally and physically strenuous and exhausting period at the hospital, on 25th December I was discharged but on DOTs course for 6 more months. The situation worsened on 26th January 2011, when my grandfather passed away. It was a big loss for me as I was extremely attached to him. People gave up hopes of me clearing the board exam and they started sympathising with the situation.
Somewhere, I also knew that with only 15 days in hand, clearing the exams was not going to be easy. But then I realized, it was I who had worked and waited for these examinations for 2 long years. I didn’t want to carry forward the failure in the board examination for the lifetime, that too without trying. With immense support from my parents, I recollected myself and started the preparation with determination and a focussed mind.
I had just one task in my mind that I had to clear these examinations under any circumstances. I didn’t give up on them. I think that this perseverance helped me in clearing the board examination with 70.60 per cent.
The entire incident made me mentally tough and imparted a sense of self-belief. Apart from that, I learnt to never lose hope during harsh times and keep myself collected and remain focussed towards the goals. Hard work, perseverance, and determination will never go in vain. In one way or another, it will be beneficial. I immensely believe that I’ve survived through this and I can sail through any other storm, without being broken.
