My tryst with Aditya Birla Brands!
A cold winter morning. The alarm goes off at 7:30am. Was up till 4am with assignment submissions and case readings. Don’t want to get out of the cosiness of the blanket. But I can hear the concrete mixer outside my window. Ah the morning motivation to work hard. Getting ready for class takes 20 minutes barely. Surviving the first half seemed easy. Got to know that there is a guest lecture lined up for the second half. Dress code business formals. The lecture seemed to be focused on why brands lack penetration in rural India even though millions of rupees is spent on rural marketing each year. 6pm, finally some time to relax and catch up with social media. Thanks to too much innovation from the IT department, the Wi-Fi is down: have to resort to mobile data to watch the world cup.
We see a lot of things every day, but it’s only a few that get registered in our minds. For a company with so many offerings, under different titles, it is very easy to miss how the brand affects our daily routine. From classroom formals to business formals, from my wake-up motivation to the urge to be connected to the world all the time, Aditya Birla group affects my life in too many ways than I realized until I wrote this article. The basic human nature of taking things for granted is pretty evident here. The more easily available the item is, the lesser is the perception of it affecting your routine and daily life.
My persistence over the time to work every single day to achieve smaller targets, no matter what the situation is, has been the key to my success, so far.
I was an ambitious student and performer in my early years of schooling. Be it academics or cultural activities. I was the favourite student of all my educators who taught me and also the most vibrant participant in all the competitions. After completion of 12
thstandard I got admission into a very wonderful engineering university. I always wanted to pursue MBA after engineering but I had always thought of doing MBA after working in corporate for ample amount of time. I continued with my engineering. With the dream of getting into a prestigious firm later on. I sat for placements and got a job in one of magnificent IT firms of our country. I was very happy with it. But, later on I got to know that I couldn’t get the domain that I wanted to work in. Everything started fading away. Everything that I had planned for the job and MBA was slowly extinguishing. But then I realised that I should not give up that easily. I decided to let it go because I really didn’t want to work with something that I don’t like. I dropped for a year and started preparing for MBA with all my heart. I had hardly 4 months to prepare for the entrance exam, but I didn’t give up on my dreams. I gave the exam and interview with all the effort it required and got selected for a top B-school of our country.
Ever since then, I believe that this principle of consistently working towards my goals no matter what the situation is, has helped me get admission into a good engineering and MBA institutes in the country and it has taken me a step closer to achieve whatever I am today.
