It was only in the last month of June when I went to Pantaloons in City Centre 1 in Kolkata to buy some formal shirts and trousers as I was about to embark in my MBA journey. Pantaloons fashion and retail is a part of the Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL). When it comes to formal apparel, some of the brands that I give my complete consensus are Peter England, Allen Solly, Van Heusen. It gives a sense of confidence whenever I wear the dress whatever be the occasion, be it for a job interview, any special occasion or a date with your dear ones. It is very easy to avail these apparel of Aditya Birla Fashion Retail Limited as all apparel brands are found under one roof of Pantaloons fashion store.
Another incident was of building our new house in my hometown in Guwahati, Assam by my parents. The year was 2009 and I clearly remember the first foundation laid for our house and the cement we used was Ultra Tech Cement. Ultra Tech Cement Limited is the largest manufacturer of cement in India and ranks among the world’s leading cement makers. We knew that Ultra Tech would be the most reliable brand and we decided to use without giving it a second thought. The first cellular network that I used was of Idea. Idea Limited was a telecom operating brand of Aditya Birla Group, now it is Vodafone Idea Limited after merger with Vodafone. Idea has impressed me by its network coverage. Be it village or city the telecom network is as clear as it can be. Not to mention I am still using the Idea network. I wonder how much influence Aditya Birla Group products have in our life. It is surely changing people’s life style.
I took inspiration from the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities that Aditya Birla Group focuses on activities like rural development, education, healthcare and sanitation. The motivation of caring and giving to people that drives Aditya Birla Group also drives me to do whatever I can for the rural sector of our country. Caring for each other is what makes us a human being.
The story goes back to around 2013-2015 while I was studying in my undergraduate college IIT Kharagpur. I was an active member of National Service Scheme. We provided assistance to the village people. Assistance came in form of giving free tuitions to village children, free medical camp, blood donation camp, skilling of village woman with works like stitching, making aware of government schemes for rural people, helping with infrastructure development. One particular suburb was Salua where people didn’t had clean access to water and we took a project of installing a handpump there to provide clean underground water. For that we raised a funding of around 15 thousand rupees mainly from the batchmates. We also took another ambitious project of improving the school infrastructure of the village Salua. There was only one school for the children and that too only one room in which whole of class one to four standard studied together. We decided to take a project to renovate the school and also gathered funds for the construction of an extra class room. Our team gathered the funding from the students and teaching communities. The college administration also helped in getting some funds sanctioned. Finally we had the required funds and gave the project a successful end.
