ABG – A big influence in my life
Aditya Birla Group is the third largest Private sector conglomerate of India. The brand ABG exemplifies
integrity, passion, seamlessness and above all a strong character. It has been one such entity that I’ve always resonated with, the bright colourful sun at the heart of the logo embarks their timeless values and solid foundation. From my young days, I remember how this logo would always get in stuck in my head, after watching TV commercials, newspaper advertisements etc. instilling a grandiose perception about ABG as an institution.
Aditya Birla Group has always had a passion to deliver to its various stakeholders.
‘Taking India to the World’ is the motto that they have always had which delivers upon the vision to have a truly global presence and make every ABG product user a very proud one.
My life has revolved around Aditya Birla Group brands, be it
UltraTech Cement to build my home and complex structures around me, UTC has established a legacy for itself over the years. My first ever SIM Card connection after my Class X board exams was an
Idea Cellular connection, which I still presently use owing to the sheer customer orientation that the company possesses. Aditya Birla Group has influenced the way I shop for clothes and dress be it any occasion in any stage of life.
Pantaloons Fashion and Retail and various in-house brands like Louis Phillipe, Allen Solly and Peter England have always provided comfort and style to my wardrobe along with a sense of a strong brand recall. Finally, until more recently,
‘More Megastore’ the retail arm of Aditya Birla has been my one stop destination for all miscellaneous cravings. It provides a wide array of consumer durables and I really admire about the store is its own manufactured confectionery products. More stands firm by its tagline –
Quality 1st.
Economic theory assumes that rational customer is always at non-satiation, but my experience with these four brands of ABG in particular has been quite the contrary. The two most important things that I’ve derived from my association with Aditya Birla brands are eternal happiness and that institution of trust.
Aditya Birla Group is one such entity that I strongly connect with, it is an entity that always strives to deliver superior value via sustainability and customer centricity.
The Journey of life – How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life.
Imagine if you had one shot, one opportunity to make a mark, to seize that greater goal in life. Imagine if you had that one moment, to give your best attempt, would you capture it or just let it slip?
Life is a rollercoaster ride, full of ups and downs – but the essence of it is to embrace the journey and learn from your experiences. One of the biggest challenges that I’ve had to face came during my stint as the captain of my college Football team. It is widely recognized that sport is one of the greatest teachers of all aspects in life. Having faced a strong sporting culture in my undergraduate level, it was matter of great responsibility representing my college on the big stage in a bid to bring honor and laurels to my institute.
We were preparing to win an inter-college state level tournament which had a legacy of its own. In 2017, when we first participated our team was knocked out in the first round, and lost my quite a margin. It was a huge disappointment as we had worked very hard for it.
In every failure there’s always room to identify mistakes that must be rectified with corrective action. In the aftermath of this shallow defeat, our team sat down together to identify our mistakes and how could we improve in the next year to bring the glory back to our college. Half the race is won in identifying and knowing where you’re wrong.
Upon careful contemplation, we got going again, improving on our weak areas and building on the key strength points we had. This experience was particularly useful for me as I was the team captain and that helped me take more responsibility for the team and imbibe the spirit of team management. The consequence of structured thought-process was that we won gold medal in the same tournament that followed next year in 2018.
My key learning from the entire experience is the
importance of staying perseverant and fearless. Having a positive outlook towards adversities is another takeaway from this episode.
Lastly, as MS Dhoni once famously said “It’s not about the end result, but rather one should focus on the process that leads up to it”. Owing to my experience and learning, I couldn’t agree more.
