“Children are the future of a nation.”
I used to hear This quote in my school and it used to fill my heart with aspirations of changing the world one day. But as I grew up and the reality befell upon me these quotes and jargon lost their effect. Coming from a small border nearing town in Punjab the opportunities for kids to learn and achieve were limited and hard to come by. To put things in perspective there were only 4 Schools serving the town and almost 20 neighboring villages. I was among the lucky few to be admitted in one of these schools. After secondary education I had to move out to another city rather another state to have further education in my field of interest due to limited options In my native place whereas most of my friends gave up and chose not to go for further education away from home.
This is when a whole new phase in my life started. I came across people from all over the world and got an exposure to their cultures and their experiences. Most of them were from Top tier cities and have had premier education from top schools in the country. I used to feel the odd one out when with these people. This did have a bearing on my self confidence as well. I had starting losing sights of the aspirations I once had as a kid . I felt these quotes were only meant for people born in big cities to rich parents. All of this changed when I had the opportunity to spend a significant amount of time in my hometown after 7 years.
I noticed many changes in the city infrastructure, facilities and especially schools. Roads had been built all new, New hospitals banks and a number of schools where focus is not merely on imparting textbook education to the students but on imbibing the process of learning in their minds. I realized that the kids studying in these institutions no longer had to choose between their loved ones and their dreams. One other change I noticed was the number of concrete mixture trucks and bags of Ultratech cement lying in the under construction structures and I wondered just wondered how I had never thought if the ways in which many companies or products contribute to betterment of a place or people living there and never get recognition they deserve.
When I thought about putting my views about how Aditya Birla Group had affected my life . the set of events were the first to pop up in my mind. I thought about those kids and the people living in my hometown might have not realized the elements which went into making these infrastructural changes and how has it affected them, but as for me just looking at the improvements gave me the power to hold on to my childhood dreams with even more tightly than before because you never know someone somewhere might be working on Making a ladder for you to climb up to the heights of success that you once thought you would.
