Aditya Birla Group and its products have been an integral part of my life since my childhood. It would not be an exaggeration to say that, directly or indirectly, ABG has had a very big influence on my thinking. The vision of ABG is clear; to be a premium global conglomerate with a clear focus on each of the businesses. The mission is to deliver superior value to the customers, shareholders and society at large.
The Aditya Birla Group epitomizes the philosophy of its legendary leader- the late Aditya Vikram Birla-one man who made a difference. He was rooted in Indian values yet global in vision. He was rock solid in fundamentals. He believed in nurturing a culture where success does not come in the way of the need to learning afresh. He believed in innovating and to keep experimenting. Aditya Birla Group inspires the society to follow these values too.
As a customer, I am more than satisfied. The
Vodafone that I use, the formals by
Van Heusen that I wear or the dresses from
Forever 21 have given me satisfaction and confidence which in turn have enhanced my personality. The values adopted by ABG are integrity, commitment, passion, seamlessness and speed. All businesses of ABG have adopted these values with understanding and enthusiasm. In the words of Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla- Values provide us with our roots and they provide us with our wings.
As a child, my mother would give me lunch which remained fresh as it was wrapped in aluminium foil (Freshwrapp) and my grandmother would talk about the UltraTech cement used while constructing the house. Presently I use Vodafone, I buy my formals from Van Heusen and dresses from Forever 21. I would not like to compromise with the comfort that these brands have brought in my life. I realize that there is a common link in all these products-ABG.
Life is difficult and full of challenges. Everyone has to face them. Family members get sick, people get older, one may not get the job or promotion one wants. All of us face conflicts in life. But life is about our resilience and how we go through it with positive attitude.
When I was a student of class seventh, tragedy struck our family. My paternal uncle and aunt passed away within a span of one month. It was a difficult situation. I saw my grandparents emotionally broken. My parents were trying to bring things back to normal. I am the elder of two siblings. At such moments even small contributions matter a lot. I realized that I had to act with maturity. I had to be strong and reliable, like the ultra tech cement, as my grandmother used to say. I took care of my younger sister and handled my studies as well. I tried to give emotional support to my grandparents and helped my mother with household work. After a while things were back to normal. However, the incident helped me to grow up with maturity. Another incident that comes to my mind is when I was going in my car along with my parents. I had to appear for an entrance exam for which I had worked really hard. On the way our car broke down. We realized it would take some time to start the car again. We decided to book a cab. My parents could not book a cab as there were network issues. Vodafone network saved me that day. I was able to book a cab and reach the examination center on time.
It was my ambition to get admission in a good B-school. At the same time, it was my aspiration to work and contribute towards the society. It so happened that one day our maid mentioned that her son was not able to cope up with his studies. I took this as a challenge and asked her to send him to me thrice a week for guidance. He passed the exam with flying colors. I also worked with an NGO and taught underprivileged students. Meanwhile along with my job I was preparing to get admission in a good B-school. I was able to do well and now I am a part of MDI Gurgaon. I am happy to have achieved my goal of getting admission in an excellent institution. At the same time, it gives me immense satisfaction that I have made a small impact in the lives of some children.
To sum up, ABG has not only been my savior but has had a tremendous impact on my thinking and my life. Its vision, mission and commitment towards its customers and continuously evolving with new times inspires me to keep striving to give my best.
