What comes to our minds when we hear about Aditya Birla Group?
In most of the cases, a common man will not be able to talk about all the products and services that this conglomerate provides. Same was the case with me too.
While studying in school, I knew that Aditya Birla group is one of the biggest conglomerates in India. But in what length and breadth of industries, it is spread was something overwhelming to know. I came to know about the size of Aditya Birla Group during my engineering days at Hirakud, Sambalpur.
Hindalco, a subsidiary company of Aditya Birla Group, situated at Hirakud, manufactures aluminium sheets. It is one of the largest aluminium rolling companies in the world.
Aditya Birla Group has always had an impact on us at some point in our life. It may be because of their telecom network company; cement and concrete; Viscose filament yarn; life insurance and asset management or branded apparel. You name it, and Aditya Birla Group is there to make your life easier.
I, Being from a small town, it was difficult for me to know about the latest fashion trends. It was Pantaloon which came for the rescue at that moment. It was so much comfortable and time-saving to go through all the high segment brands in one place. Pantaloon changed the shopping habits and culture of an average Indian. It brought all the brands, whether domestic or international in ordinary people reach. The merger between Idea and Vodafone was a revolutionary event in the telecom sector. It is awe inspiring to look at the Mumbai-Worli sea link or the major airports in India. Such is the contribution of Aditya Birla Group in building infrastructure in our country.
It would be unfair if I don’t talk about the values which drive Aditya Birla Group. It believes in the overall development of the communities and uplifting the marginalised section of society. The words of its chairman Mr Kumar Mangalam Birla, always inspire me and fill me with new energy.
Throughout my life, I have been in search of guidance and motivation as there were not many highly educated persons around me when I was growing up.
It is a common sight in small towns or villages in our country that children do not get much guidance and career counselling. I was one such child, and there are many more like me. But the hunger to make a difference and make my parents proud kept me going. Many a time, I doubted my ability and skill, but the joy of reaching the destination never let me give up. It was the time when people like Tatas, Birlas became my inspiration. Whenever I hear or read any quotes from someone like Mr Birla, it gives me hope and zeal to excel.
I am the only person in my entire family and perhaps one of the few in my locality who became an engineer after beating all odds and now going to embark on a new MBA journey.
The responsibilities, taken up by Aditya Birla Group to uplift the people of the marginalised section of society, is going to be very crucial for the development of society as well as the nation.
