Growing up in a small town named Dharwad in Karnataka, I had simple life with evenings. Most of the evenings were spent watching TV after our school homework. As a child I loved watching catchy ads and I believe their intent was served. The cement ads from Aditya Birla resembled strength and mightiness, which I identified with my father’s personality, a strong and protecting figure. As I grew up I learnt about BITS Pilani, one of India’s most esteemed college and I dreamed of being a part of it but could not make it. From cement industry to the latest ventures into fashion and clothing, Aditya Birla Group has shown its interest in entrepreneurial ventures. Aditya Birla Group’s core values focuses on Integrity, Commitment, Passion, speed and seamlessness. These values resonate with the upbringing I received. What makes us unique is the values we believe in and Aditya Birla has stands true to its values. In my college year, I once came across a song and the name of the singer did ring a bell. It was Ms. Ananya Birla, I was surprised about why she is not into continuing her family business. I learnt more about her and her passion after watching her videos. Since then I have admired Ms. Ananya Birla for choosing to follow her passion. Not every one of us have enough courage to take risks and follow out passion. Ananya Birla is setting an example for the younger generation to follow their ventures. Her international success and accolade for her singing is a huge thing to be prideful about.
At the core of the ABGLP program are people who drive to make an impact, irrespective of what challenges they face. Tell us, in at least 250 words, how you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far.
Coming from a small town named Dharwad in Karnataka, growing up I interacted with few people all my life. My interactions were limited and my social circle was a small one. I didn’t know how to initiate a conversation or have idea about the basic know hows of it. Being a middle child I craved for attention, and grabbed on any little attention I got. I didn’t prefer working with people or sharing my responsibilities.
Life comes up with unexpected opportunities and I got one when I joined my first job. During my work experience in Reliance Jio, my basic roles were handling Product engineering, Project management, Test Engineering, Vendor management as such, which required constant interaction with vendors and other stakeholders. I saw this as an opportunity to work on my weaknesses. In this duration, I took up and handled multiple projects, managed various teams (domestic and international).
I learnt how to overcome situations of conflicting interests and opinions. The importance of maintaining cordial relations, dealing with stress when conflict arises were new learnings. I also learnt the importance of team work and the better results achieved with team effort.
It has changed me as a person from being a reserved personality to being more open to work with people. It has made me a good listener and a learner. I have become more understanding of situations and people. My social circles have improved and I have amicable relations with ones I have difference of opinions.
Currently I’m studying Management and I hope it will help me be a better manager, administrator and businesswoman one day while enhancing my personality
