Whether an individual realizes it or not, the Aditya Birla Group has imprinted its mark in the life of almost every Indian. It is with fondness that I reminisce a significant moment for my family, that occurred in my childhood, when my father bought our first house after moving back to India. Little did I know then that it was constructed using Ultra Tech cement. Living in Hyderabad during my school days, the closest supermarket to my home was More, which was then a part of ABG as well. I would always accompany my mother there on our weekly grocery-shopping trips, in order to talk her into buying a few extra cookies to stock up at home.
Later, when I went to pursue my graduation from the National Institute of Fashion Technology, I realized that ABG was a key player in fashion in various forms such as Madura Fashion & Retail, Pantaloons and so many brands like Allen Solly and Van Heusen, that I grew to love and appreciate more and more over the course of my degree, as I understood the production process and the complexities involved even in something so seemingly insignificant as which shade of blue to use in denim next season. My attachment to these brands carried on as I began to chase the MBA dream at TAPMI, for which my go-to retail store for formalwear continued to be Pantaloons and my personal favourite brand for women’s blazers remained Allen Solly. Pre-MBA, when my father thought it would be a good idea to introduce me to the world of mutual funds, the first one he suggested that I invest in was Birla Sun Life. What’s more, whenever the rigour of B-school life might seem overwhelming, I can always bank on Vodafone’s impeccable network to call up any of my close friends or family members to instantly lift my mood!
This is the versatility of the Aditya Birla Group, playing so many roles in the lives of Indians that we, more often than not, take for granted. This is the Aditya Birla Group, taking India to the world.
