From the time I stepped into my undergraduate college, unknowingly brands from Aditya Birla Group became a big part of my everyday life. For a very long time, I had a very uncomfortable image of Western formals in my head. I was reluctant to step into situations where I might need to put on formals. The traditional stitched formal’s discomfort scared me. This is the part where brands from Aditya Birla Group like Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Pantaloons, Forever 21 etc. made a big entry into my wardrobe and also my life. In this era of cut-throat competition, what you wear and how you feel about it plays a big role. A very famous quote says, “Dress for the job you want, not the job you do.” which holds very true as far as my experience goes. Aditya Birla Group’s brands offer more than the kind of comfort, which one can ask for. In addition, the reach they have from online presence to brick and mortar stores makes my life very easy.
Hardships, failures and challenges are an integral part of one’s life journey. The ability to endure them is what separates successful people from unsuccessful ones. Coming from a small town and a big joint family, I faced a lot of resistance for moving out of the city and starting my career in the corporate sector. The typical restrictions like don’t go out, don’t question so much, don’t wear that, don’t do things that boys in the family can easily do etc. had always been around which I never actually paid much heed to. Had I rebelled about this in the first place, my job to convince them could have been much easier. This was serious, my career was on the line. The fear of missing opportunities, not being able to achieve my career goals or being financially independent intimidated me. All of this took a toll on my health and well-being. Rising above this, convincing my family, getting their support and blessings has been one of the biggest challenge in my life.
After working in corporate sector for two years and now studying in one of the premier B-Schools in the country when I look back and reflect I see that, no matter what kind of struggle we are going through, it is very difficult to see and imagine good things that could happen to us. Those circumstances make us lose our ability to feel happy. Clichéd but true, everything happens for a reason. The hardships we face make us a better person. Whatever I faced, I took it as a training that made me grow for another challenge which life could throw at me. It has taught me how to approach any challenges to come in a more mindful and elegant way. It is during this time you change trajectory and attitude of your life. You learn to be bold, brave and confident. Most of all, you value yourself and what you have.
