Part A
The one brand that comes to my mind which has a profound presence in my life is Aditya Birla
Group. I can’t think of a moment of my life where ABG is not a part of it. Be it the food I eat, the
clothes I wear, CAT interview, any holiday trip or any special occasion. You name it, and ABG is there.
Whether it be small or big, ABG is ubiquitous. Starting from the biggest moment in my life, where I
was in my CAT interview,
Louis Philippe , whose business formal collection was breathtaking, was
there with me, making me feel comfortable and confident.
Pantaloons , has always given me a
plethora of options to choose from. It has been a one-stop shop to fulfill my aesthetic needs.
Planet
Fashion is another such store. I remember, the first watch that I bought for my mom from my first
salary was a
Ted Baker watch. While buying Ted Baker, I knew it was an international brand. But
later I came to know it has been launched in India in partnership with ABG. With digitization, we
have started adopting cashless forms of transaction.
BHIM ABPB is another such payment app which
makes instant & secure money transfers to any bank account easily using UPI ID. To provide me
connectivity round the clock to the internet,
Vodafone Idea has always been there with me,
connecting me with my family and friends. My hometown is on the path of development. With new
buildings and malls coming each day, the one common commodity they all use is
UltraTech . We all
have been on roads. Have you ever wondered why the tyres are black? It’s due to ‘carbon black’. It
increases the strength and durability of the tyres, which makes me and you feel safe.
Birla Carbon is
the largest manufacturer of carbon black worldwide. Such has been the presence of ABG in my life.
Part B
“Life's not about how hard of a hit you can give... it's about how many you can take, and still keep
moving forward.”

Sylvester Stallone, Rocky Balboa
Life isn’t fair. And I procrastinate a lot. Such a deadly combination. After completing my BTech, I
planned to take CAT. I had a job offer from an IT company. The joining was late. So, I had time. A lot
of time. But I was never serious about it, so I never studied. My second attempt (gave the first one
when I was in my final year of my BTech) at CAT was average. After joining job, I liked the work for
initial days. I worked 10-11 hours day. Partied a little. But still registered for CAT. So, again without
any preparation, got the same average results. A year had gone by working in the company, and I
started feeling that this not the kind of job that I want to be doing my whole life. So, I thought of
serious try.I wanted to change something in my life. I enrolled in a coaching centre and gave a few
mocks.I ended up getting a better score than earlier but not that great that would fetch me a call
from an IIM. At the same time, 2 of my close friends cracked it. One went to IIM Kozhikode and other
to IIM Indore. This was the moment when it struck me. I had to do it, or forget about it. Finally, I
thought that this would be my last try. A rigorous preparation started, what was required from a CAT
aspirant. It was very difficult to juggle job and preparation at the same time. I gave CAT and scored a
decent percentile. I fetched calls from the new IIMs and converted a few . I finally joined one.
I still do procrastinate. But, I believe, we all should strive for that one thing, that we believe in.
