Part A
Aditya Birla Group needs no introduction. Everyone in India must have been associated with Aditya
Birla Group at least once in his life in one way or the other because of the penetration of ABG in
different sectors across the globe. Whether it be metals, cement, stable fibers, yarn, chemicals,
financial services Aditya Birla Group has made its mark in every sector. It is the third-largest private
Indian conglomerate and this statistic speaks for itself.
On a personal level, I have a very good association with ABG. In my undergraduate days when I first
got to know about mutual funds and SIPs which brought an inquisitiveness in me to start investing
from the early days itself, Aditya Birla Sunlife was the first mutual fund I invested in and in a span of
three years I got a return of 24% which itself shows the credibility of ABG in the financial service
sector. For a student, a 24 % return from his savings means a lot and Aditya Birla Group in this way
taught me the art of savings. In my family, our favorite shopping stop is Planet Fashion because of
the range of varieties and brands they offer. When I was stepping into corporate life, every formal
cloth that I bought was from Planet Fashion. Even the first sim I bought after going to my
engineering college was Idea Cellular because the network of Idea was better than the other service
providers in the hilly regions of Dehradun.
The few stated contributions of ABG in my life are out of many countless associations. Whenever I
have been associated with ABG one thing I have got for sure is consumer satisfaction and that’s what
ABG stands for.
Part B
In this competitive world, every individual has to go through many challenges in his life to achieve
the goals he aspires for. Some overcome these challenges very efficiently and some struggle a bit. In
the Indian scenario due to the limited job opportunities and few good colleges, every student is
facing a real challenge every day.
When I was in my engineering I had been doing very well in my academics and had ambitions for
getting my few research papers published in the renowned journals of the world. The major
challenge I faced was a lack of support from my college as there was no previous research culture
which would have resulted in financial burden on me for all the costs involved in patent
requirements to traveling abroad for presentation. It took me a while to find out the solution for this
as there was a long way ahead. I started visiting different IITs showcasing my ideas at various events
and fests which enabled me to refine my research. Finally, after a hard work of 2 years, I got funded
by Indian National Academy of Engineering for all the expense involved in research from patenting to
traveling abroad. I was able to get two of my research papers published in the renowned journals at
the end of my engineering.
The above-stated challenge is one of the challenges I faced in my life and learned that if we are
dedicated to our goals and are ready to work for it, no matter what environment we are in or what
support we are getting, we would accomplish it anyways.
