Aditya Birla Group started in the same year as India’s First War of Independence, has now grown up to be one of the largest conglomerates, thus achieving their vision “To be the premium global conglomerate with a clear focus on each of the business”. In order to achieve their mission “To deliver superior value to customers, shareholders, employees and society at large”, they have touched billions of lives and I am one among those billions.
Pantaloons a fashion retail store owned by ABG has brought in-house and international brands such as Louis Philippe, Allan Solly, Van Heusen, Peter England to tier-2 and tier-3 cities. With wide range of choices and, clothes available for all the occasion, it has become my one stop solution for all the fashion needs. In tier-1 cities where traffic and travel time are the major hurdles for shoppers, Pantaloons has solved this problem by opening various retail outlets across the city. My need for office formals for Monday to Friday job and casual outfit for weekends were being met at Pantaloons retail outlet in Bengaluru.
In the tech savvy world with all the information available at finger tips and the monetary transactions being done by scan of the QR code, we sometimes tend to forget the ones who have made this all possible, the internet service providers. Vodafone-Idea with their seamless connectivity and high speed internet has reduced my ATM cash withdrawal to less than thrice a year. With almost 395 million subscribers, a huge number which speaks for itself, they are now the largest telecom operator in India.
A home is more than a place. UltraTech Cement with their superior quality cement provides the assurance that a person requires before spending their hard earned money in buying or constructing a home. My father believed in the superior quality products of this company while constructing the house in which my family resides.
Thus, I can safely conclude that ABG has been playing a huge role in my life, directly as well as indirectly.
I started working in presales in Ericsson in the year 2016, after completing my graduation in ECE. I was Radio Access Network (RAN) Subject Matter Expert (SME). I was responsible for handling the largest telecom operator of Sri Lanka. Chinese telecom equipment vendor had more than fifty percent of the business of this operator. Ericsson’s aim was to increase its share. We introduced NB-IoT (Narrowband- Internet of Things) in the network for test. As the customer’s equipment was of the Chinese vendor, it was not as per the latest 3GPP standard. It took various testing from experts to convince the operator that it was shortcoming of the Chinese vendor’s equipment that was responsible for the failure of the test. Because of our persistent ways, Ericsson became the first vendor to deploy NB-IoT in South-East Asia. This eventually increased the Ericsson’s share in the operator’s business and opened up new opportunities as other telecom operators in the region started picking Ericsson’s product over other vendors.
I have always believed that passion to achieve one’s ambition pushes one beyond his/her capabilities. I was committed to achieve the ambition of the company I was working for. I showed great urgency in solving customer queries. The word of mouth, about the commitment, passion and speed which I showed in solving the issues of one operator, spread across and various vendors opened up their business for Ericsson.
In conclusion, following the right virtues such as integrity, commitment and discipline has helped me succeed in life.
