Part A - Why Aditya Birla Group is big in our life:
Aditya Birla Group, an Indian multinational conglomerate, which operates in 35 countries with more than 120,000 employees worldwide, in the League of Fortune 500 and had a revenue of approximately US$44.3 billion in year 2018. These facts are enough to justify why Aditya Birla Group is Big. We cannot deny the fact that almost everyone would have used any product, provided by Aditya Birla Group, at some point of time. The Aditya Birla Group enjoys a leadership position in all the sectors in which it operates: metals, cement, carbon black, specially chemicals, viscose staple fibre, viscose filament yarn, acrylic fibre, textiles, telecom, financial services, retail, branded apparel, natural resources, agri-solutions, power and trading. Its products and services touch every person's life uniquely.
The product from Birla group which personally impacted my life was 'Idea'. Idea Cellular was started as a joint venture with the AT&T and the Tata Group. After an IPO on the Indian stock markets, Idea Cellular now accounts for a third of the group's market capitalization. The company is headquartered in Mumbai. On 31 August 2018 Idea Cellular completed its merger with Vodafone India and thereby became largest telecom company in terms of subscribers and revenue, surpassing Airtel. Few years back, our need of the hour, as a student, was good network connectivity and high speed internet. Idea helped us to cross that barrier and move ahead in our lives with getting all the information in just one click. This venture was explored in almost every corner of country, such was their reach and network strength. Idea is still among the top leaders, when the time is tough for telecom sector because of huge competition and market vulnerability.
Part B - How I overcame challenges in life so far:
In all my endeavors, I strive to achieve superior results through hard work and constant improvement. I have always believed that strength and growth come by facing the issues head on. And more importantly, whether results are favorable or not, I am satisfied if I have given my best efforts. Thus, pursuit of excellence and perseverance are the traits that describe my personality and have become guiding mantra for me.
One of the biggest challenges of my life I faced during my job period in IBM. I joined IBM in July 2015 and was allocated a project in September 2015. My role was database administrator and team size was 5. By September 2016, all 4 of my teammates left the organization due to various reasons and the made me the oldest member in team with just 1 year of experience. I took the responsibility and put my best efforts to keep the smoothness in work same as before, that included handling the regular tasks along with training the new teammates. Despite of the shift (day or night) or the day (weekday or weekend), I used to be available round the clock. As I was in my initial stage of corporate career, it was a challenging task but I managed the situation and performed upto the mark. I received the appreciation from my managers for handling the team and from my clients for my work. From this, I learnt that we should always hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Co-ordinating with team members in unfavourable situations, taking responsibility, decision making and quick learning were few take aways from this.
