I woke up in the morning and had a talk with my parents over mobile. My father was speaking of our new house that was being constructed and he was looking after options for durable flooring. I was suggesting him to take up an Insurance policy as he is a frequent traveler. After the call, I was reading the newspaper with an article on plastic pollution explaining how Jute is now being used as the best natural alternative to plastic and its advantages. I needed to go out to shop apparel in my friend’s car and he was boasting of his Jute felt-based car interiors.
This is just a snippet of what happened with me today from the morning and if carefully observed, there is one common aspect passing through each and every situation - Aditya Birla Group. Be it Cement, Insurance, PVC floor covering, Jute goods, metals, textiles, telecom and Jute based car interiors, Aditya Birla group stands ahead in delivering the quality products. Founded by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla at Rajasthan in 1857 and now operating in 38 countries, Aditya Birla group is an Indian multinational conglomerate and it is built on a strong foundation of stakeholder value creation.
Aditya Birla is just not a corporate, It’s much more. The social responsibilities that the company has undertaken clearly show their motive of raising the country’s human development index and build a sustainable life for the weaker sections of the country. Healthcare projects, Schools providing quality education with scholarships, Vocational Training Centres, Sustainable livelihood programs, Infrastructure projects, and Model villages are a few examples to look upon in a broader sense. Through "Making a difference" CSR activity, Aditya Birla group works in 5000 villages helping out 7.5 million people. The company along with the people of this country is working towards a united goal of making India better.
Let the Challenge be a prerequisite to bolster hope – Venkatesh Vallabhaneni (#IIM Trichy)
There are many instances of everyone’s life where we face problems. Some don’t give up and some do. The question is whoever did not, what did that person do that gave him/her an extra boost for not giving up. That person did not choose the easy path. I believe everyone’s life is a roller-coaster filled with challenges. What differentiates that person is the will to go on. I would like to discuss one challenge in my life that I overcame and how it made me resistant enough to face other challenges and also what lessons it taught me and made me realize of being confident even in situations of zero hope.
During my undergrad, we had a fresher’s party called Kalakriti, which we used to celebrate back in our college. Being the secretary of the dance club, I had to face a situation which we had never faced before. One particular year, it so happened that we had to face 3 days of continuous dance events. Kalakriti, Independence Day, and Secretary flash mob (where all the secretaries of cultural clubs perform). As exams were also scheduled around the same time and we had a limited number of dancers and very limited time, it was difficult to manage and complete the work. I strategized the work and divided my team into marketing, choreography, stage work and I was continuously following up with them. This was only made possible with the endless support that I got from other secretaries and my teammates. That day, I learned the true power of teamwork and peer support.
Dance is my passion. But it was never about just getting the opportunity to perform on stage. It was much more than that. Dancing is one part and organizing to give an opportunity for someone else to participate is something else. There were many friends who said that it was not possible and we would ruin all the 3 events if we try to manage all. The suggestion was to drop at least one event. We did take that as a challenge and but yes, we felt skeptical every now and then. But it was that hope that leads us and when we went through it, it was a miracle and we also received appreciation from our college Dean. This gave us enough support and confidence to tackle our future and the key lesson was simple: work hard and do not lose hope.
