Aditya Birla Group is India’s third largest multinational conglomerate, operating in more than 35 countries across the globe. They have around 40 brands in 8 different sectors such as Cement, Banking, Fashion, Metals, Chemicals and the list goes on. If this doesn’t impress one maybe what follows will. They run around 7 brands in clothing alone including Van Heusen, Louis Philippe, Peter England and Pantaloons etc. I’m sure most of us have been to at least one of them, or many of them. We can’t run from this group, it has made us accustomed to itself to such an extent that we can’t even imagine. This is what attracts me to Aditya Birla Group, the extent of its existence in our lives. I am sure there are a lot more who share a similar opinion.
I wish to be an entrepreneur and examples like Aditya Birla Group give me a dream, an aim to work up to. It is because of conglomerates like these that we are able to look beyond our scope of horizon. Aditya Birla Group also motivates me to change with time and think of new avenues to cater to the changing needs and wants of the society as they have done with BHIM ABPB UPI.
As Thomas Carlyle, a Scottish philosopher once said “A MAN WITHOUT GOAL IS LIKE A SHIP WITHOUT A RUDDER”. A direction is what a person needs to move forward in life, for me it was Aditya Birla Group.
Since I was a boy I had confidence issues, was very shy hardly made eye contact with anyone, always used to stick with my parents. I believe this was one of my biggest challenges in life I faced. Low confidence creates a vicious circle in life. It did the same for me, I didn’t take initiatives and when others took initiatives them, I felt even more incompetent making a vicious circle. All of this went away in my engineering days, I was a different person afterwards. I came to know more about myself then.
The changes started the moment I started taking initiatives. Success gave me confidence and failures made me accustomed to fail. I didn’t feel down after failing, it only lifted my spirit to perform better. All this helped me later in interviews before internships. I got into Larsen & Toubro, it was all due to my exposure to tough situations and a solid resolve to change which enabled my growth.
I participated in GD-PI competition held in my college. Both 3
rd years and 4
th years participated together. To my surprise I stood first in the whole department. That was my biggest achievement and acknowledgement of my efforts in the past years. This confidence even helped me in my MBA interviews. I was calm in all my interviews and group discussions, for others it may not be a high point but for me it definitely was. I was finally able to get into one of the top B-schools in India.
