Aditya Birla Group – One name, many fames - IIM Kashipur

From the most trusted cellular network to the India’s no. 1 cement, branded fashion retail to textiles, metal industry to capital business, there is one name behind all these accomplishments – Aditya Birla Group. Being the 3rd largest private conglomerate and one of the oldest in India, touches lives of people of every part of the country and in many other countries as well. 

Many big names like Ultratech, Idea, Grasim, Hindalco, Novelis, Pantaloons and Aditya Birla Capital are a part of this esteemed group. Idea cellular network, now known as Vodafone Idea is considered to be the best because of its network strength and services. In earlier days, as I remember, whenever we went out of station, our parents and relatives suggested to take Idea sim in our cell-phones as where no other network was present, Idea was always there. Such a brand name it carries if we talk about network reliability to keep people connected with their near and dear ones.

Aditya Birla’s Ultratech cement, India’s largest cement company known for its strength and quality on which people rely when they think of building a house which lasts for long. For fashion shopping, Pantaloons is the one outlet which comes first to our mind which fulfils our fashion needs. Also the Group’s Fashion & Retail sector has popular in-house brands like Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Peter England and Forever 21 which sell through individual and multi-brand outlets. Whenever I think of buying a shirt, these brands are the one I usually prefer. 

Aditya Birla Group is involved in many other recognised businesses like staple fibre, carbon black, textiles, yarn, chemicals, fertilizers and other sectors. It also runs financial services business under the name Aditya Birla Capital.

Aditya Birla Group has covered various industrial sectors which in way has connected and fulfilled the needs many people around the world. It not only provides a wonderful experience of its products & services to its customers but also provides employment to many people associated with the group. It is a very proud feeling for all of us to see Aditya Birla Group as a big Indian player in the world market and I hope this group grow more higher in future.

Overcoming challenges in my life so far ...

This life has occurred once and we should live it to our fullest. Though this life brings us to face many challenges at times, we should have our inner strength and be determined to overcome them and live our life in the way we want. Walking you through my personal experiences regarding challenges I have faced in my life so far, I would like to share two major ones amongst them.

First one, is the major accident I had encountered during my engineering 2nd year, which broke my left femur and I was on bed rest for almost 6 months. It was not only the physical pain but also a mental impact if I could stand on my legs, walk and run as before. I missed my engineering classes and exams were approaching, which evoked the fear of not receiving a ‘Honours’ degree, one of my goals, if I failed in exams. But I did not lose my hope and kept on preparing on bed and went to write exams on crutches. And the result was that I passed that exam with more marks that I secured in last semester when I was well. This grew my confidence and inner strength higher than before, which was just because of my continuous efforts despite hardships.

Other one which I want to mention here, is about my MBA preparation days. I basically come from a society where the needs and wants of the people are so limited and who do not aspire to fly higher in life. Basic education, a graduate college then a satisfying government job to run a life happier was only thing surrounding people have in their mind. MBA was a plan I had kept in my mind during my engineering days, but did not open up so as to execute the plan at the right time. Working for one and half years in IT, I realised the right time to go for my aspiration and prepare for MBA. People kept on pulling my legs based on my past failures as I deviated from the government opportunities that arrived my way. I listened to them, but I was determined to achieve more heights and come out of the stereotype lifestyle. I was failing, scoring very less in tests but maintained my consistency despite losing hope anytime. And the result is here, I am pursing MBA in IIM, which I cleared in my first shot. This showed my inner capability to achieve my passion in life. 

In this life’s journey, challenges will come to test our capabilities, but we should never feel defeated and fight them back with all our strength. Concluding to this, I would like to say this to everyone - Aspire high, be ambitious, always be positive, stay determined and spontaneous to get your dreams fulfilled.
