Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life? (PART A)
Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life. Well, why wouldn’t it be? When I was a kid, I distinctly remember playing in the sand and cement at the site of our new house. There were large rather heavy bags of cement with a big label Ultra Tech Cement written across them. I had no clue about this big brand that was going to evolve and grow alongside me. It took a while for me to realize the hot parathas I take to school for lunch are always packed in ‘Freshwrapp’ aluminium foil by Hindalco, also owned by Aditya Birla Group. All the ‘get the idea!’ advertisements on the television had no meaning to me until it was time for me to get my first cellphone and I did exactly what the TV ad said, I got an idea. Amidst all this, I grew up, a teenager with absolutely no fashion sense whatsoever. Forever 21 and Arrow were my go-to brands and I had to never look back at my lack of fashion sense.
I cannot even begin to describe every business, every brand, every product by Aditya Birla whether it’s Pantaloons, More, Van Heusen, Louis Philippe or Peter England that is ingrained in my life and lifestyle. It took me a while to realize that this company had a greater role in my life growing up. It is not just the multiple brands that talked to me at various points of my life, rather it’s the association of my memories at each walk of my life with Aditya Birla Group is what makes it big for me.
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions? (PART B)
We all face challenges in life, its how we react to them defines us. I too had faced my fair share of challenges, some of them major which stand out and some minor which are lesser told.
I have always been a bright student throughout my schooling. I was first in class, won a lot of competitions, good at sports. In all sorts, I was the ideal student. It was all good and rosy till I reached my graduation, then bursts the bubble which I have been living all my life in. All of a sudden, I was competing with essentially 100s of people who are as smart as me if not smarter. The real challenge was to fight for my ground here, at this stage of my life and I did just that. I changed my perception towards everything in college and worked towards concentrating on the process rather than just bothering for results. I graduated with flying colours but my internship at ERLDC and at Kalyani Distribution Substation, I realized these were not the type of jobs or challenges I was looking forward to in my life. I felt I was destined for greater things and thus came the challenge of CAT. With my ever-evolving perfect perception towards life, I embarked on this journey of CAT and ended up in one of the best B-schools in the country, Indian Institute of Management Kashipur where I am in the top 5 students of my batch, won the winners’medal for Table Tennis at IIM Rohtak and most recently selected as an youth delegate by the Government of India to represent our country. Focusing on the process rather than results has been one of the key reasons for my success and I am not done yet. I believe I have more to offer to society and I hope to embark upon that journey as soon as possible.
The magnitude of challenges I faced might seem smaller or bigger for a person outside of my life, but for good or worse I got through all of them and achieved all the things I wanted to and took possession of what is rightfully mine.
