Q. Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?
Having established in 1857 and now being one of the largest multinational conglomerate in India, Aditya Birla Group has definitely made a huge mark in our country with its wide range of products, services and activities which the company has been conducting since its inception.
Coming from a rural area, I’ve seen the struggles of people in my village dying to get proper education, healthcare, electricity and adequate skills. The condition of our village was pathetic. Back in my school days when I was in a hostel studying, I got a call from my mom telling me about some organization which came forward to build schools, provide vaccination and construct healthcare centers in my village. Turns out it was Aditya Birla Group which under its corporate social responsibility has come forward to help our village. This was definitely a huge thing for our village people who were in the worst phase of their life. This initiative by Aditya Birla Group has transformed many lives on a large scale.
Aditya Birla Group is undoubtedly the largest conglomerate which has companies in diverse markets like Retail Fashion, Cement industry, Aluminum rolling industry, Telecom, Groceries and many more. From providing 1 Lakh metric ton of cement to Bandra-Worli Sea link construction, which has drastically reduced the traffic snarls in central Mumbai, to providing telecom service with hybrid power to 5,00,000 towns and villages in India which resulted in reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 52,000 tons per annum, Aditya Birla group will and shall remain big in my life forever.
Q. How I overcame challenges in life to achieve my ambitions so far?
Being born in a great country like India, even I was subjected to the typical mindset of Indian parents. Most of the Indian parents prefer their children to either take up engineering or medicine once they finish school. Parents are insecure about their children’s careers in our country. They don’t really trust other professions apart from engineering and medicine as they think there’s no job security in rest of the domains.
Even I was forced to take up engineering. Right from my childhood, my parents made me attend JEE Classes, to prepare me for top Engineering colleges like IITs. As I did not have any interest in engineering, I could not perform well in my entrance test and could not join top engineering college in our country. I was interested in business administration from my school days. I was always intrigued by how industries work and how they help transform millions of lives in our world. So I decided to join a top B-school and learn more about business administration and its functionalities. Right from my third year, I started preparing for the CAT entrance exam. I used to spend two hours daily and practice a lot of problems pertaining to exam. And finally overcoming all my challenges, I cracked CAT and joined IIM Kashipur.
