Aditya Birla Group is one of the leaders in development of India and I have a personal experience with this brand. I belong to a region that was least developed till 2008 and ‘
More megastore’ was the first one to setup its store in the newly built mall by Vikas Surya Group. It served the social needs of people by making diverse things available under one roof. For the people of that area, it was no less than Walmart where people could buy things ranging from pin to airplane. After its successful operation, many other brands started establishing their stores, but a successful leader is always the one who is the ‘
First Mover’. Therefore, Aditya Birla Group has played a very big role in my life and not only this there are many other spheres I didn’t take notice of but it was Aditya Birla Group products which I purchased made me look good especially it’s professional wear brands like
Van Heusen, Peter England, Louis Phillipe and the most common thing ‘food wrapper’ for my lunch and no quality was much better than that made by Hindalco. Aditya Birla Group has tapped into almost every market segment and not only did it grow tremendously but it became the most widely recognised name in that market be it
Ultratech cement, Hindalco,Vodafone Idea , Pantaloons Fashion & Retail and for that matter any brand under Aditya Birla Group. This is just what we can see on the outer circle and the picture is more fascinating when we penetrate deeper into it, we would see that it employs more than 1.2 lakhs employees spread across 42 regions which means that it has worked upon solving the social problems of whichever country it operates in. So, Aditya Birla Group is not only big in my life, but it has made the same image in the minds and hearts of other people too irrespective of boundaries or countries.
Significant Challenge in my life and how I wriggled out of it
"Challenges are a part and parcel of our life" and the seriousness of it always depends on the individuals as everyone has different comfort zones. For instance, say, for a common man a foot injury might be difficult to get along with but for an athlete it’s something that he encounters every day. I faced a lot of challenges and one of the unique things about them was that they came in bunches and scared the hell out of me. One of the severe challenges that I faced was after my graduation, I gave several exams and I failed in all of them despite putting in my best efforts which was surprising for everyone as I had been topper throughout my academic career. It was a series of consistent failures over a period and situation had become such that I could not even face myself. I had started doubting myself, my abilities and it started creating a deteriorating effect on my consciousness. My confidence slowly converted into pessimism and I became a psychologically and socially sick man or you could have simply called me a victim of depression at that time. But it was all thanks to my favourite schoolteacher who hit me at the right time and counselled me. Still it took me months to recover and after that I started focussing on little-little trivial things of my schedule which can be improved to bring more efficiency without disrupting my mental strength. One of the peculiar problems that I observed was that I used mobile while studying and it had stunted my concentration level over the period. So, I switched to library for studying where I felt embarrassed in using phone while studying and also, I found a good study group with whom I spent most of the time. I also followed their daily routine of getting up early at 5 am and doing some physical activity, though this was very hard at first, but I earned a lot out of this. A good basketball coach who coached me very well and now I can play for my college, a good physique which had been my dream from last many years and an active personality throughout the day. Today, when I am into IIM-V, I can observe that how those days prepared me well for the course I have opted for and in short, I started practising management long before I started reading it.
