Aditya Birla Group – The Dearest Family Member
Aditya Birla group, the multinational conglomerate is one of those companies that have come along with the current generation since our childhood days. It is so deep rooted in our memories that it not only makes us nostalgic but always had an emotional connect to our lives.
It was early 2000s and most of the family and friends spend their weekends watching Cricket over television along with the Chai and Pakoda. And the moment we see a boundary being hit, we find Ultratech cement on the boundary cushions and placards. Of course, even though the advertisements might have played their role, these seat cushions and placards (4 and 6) with Ultratech cements written have occupied our memory, since this is something that has been part of your happiness over years. And with such an impression, when we had a discussion to choose cement for renovation, the obvious was Ultratech. Believe it or not, we as kids even though we didn’t have any engineering degree by then know one brand that sells cement and that was, Ultratech.
I come from a middle-class family from a small town where people don’t get used to buy branded clothing and were less aware about brands. Then I have moved to Vijayawada (a city) to pursue XI and XII. And in the weekends, we roam around the shopping malls and probably this was my first encounter with the branded clothing outlets. Even though I haven’t bought any by then for some reason I always wanted to buy a pair of formals from Allen Solly. And it happened so, that I bought a blue formal shirt from Allen Solly to appear for my placements. Believe me, it is still my lucky shirt. I have cracked my interviews (both in B.Tech and for MBA) and it makes me feel lighter and easy.
As an individual we always have an emotional connect with some of the clothing brands that we usually prefer the designs of that particular brand. Louie Philip has been my go to brand since I started my professional career for one particular reason, they have better self-design/pattern designed shirts.
Last but not the least I was a loyal customer of Vodafone & Idea for the past three years. The pug, the funny doodles and the funny innovative Abishekh bhai advertisements (the funny fashion dress competitions we had with doodles) connect to us so well and it makes us feels lighter and easy going. I had to port to some other network due to connectivity issue last week, but I can definitely say I had a great experience. Even though there were several other encounters with the products of Aditya Birla throughout my life, these four were the ones that stand out among others.
And we as customers wish to have more diversified products from the group, since we love to create more memories and savor them for the rest of the life.
And coming to the second part, the most challenging situation or adds that I have come across would be my career so far. I was really good in the academics and as I said I come from a middle-class family with dad alone being the source of income. It was going smooth until 2007 and my dad gets expired. It has been the toughest phase of my life. I was in depression for few weeks and my Mom helped me to be normal and the challenge upfront is real-tough. Whatever I do in life should be real-quick (Since we have to take up the responsibility) and try to be in the Merit list and minimize the financial burden. And so, it happened, I have topped all the exams post that and my school principal waved off the fees. The faculty motivated me and made me so strong, I outperformed my X
th standard exams and I had a full fee concession in XI and XII (in other college in Vijayawada). My Mom has been my biggest strength and she gives the best support. I got into NIT Surathkal and every single moment motivated me and never let me compromise on my goals. Trust me, I wouldn’t have given so much support even for my next generation. I am here at SIBM, pursuing MBA after working for Maruti Suzuki for three years because of her support and the will to be successful.
These odds have made me a better person and I believe that if we have a strong will and a dream we will never go down.
