Aditya Birla Group in my life
Birla Haveli, this is the house from where everything began. The journey of one of Asia’s richest business families. Being a premium multinational conglomerate, Aditya Birla group has been touching the lives of a wide range of people all over the world and even me. ABG influenced me first with their in-house fashion brands such as Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Peter England, etc. It even made me get noticed in my first interview.
The interviewer commented: It's a nice shirt. Why did you choose this blue color?
I replied: It's my favorite color and it matches with my character as well. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, etc.
This eventually helped me to grab my first job offer.
And these became my favorite go-to brands for my casual and formal collections in no time. It enticed me due to the quality and affordability they offered to the middle-class people. Pantaloons also became a great destination for shopping.
The next thing I experienced was their telecom network when I ported from Tata Docomo to Idea Cellular and was presented with blazing-fast 4G services. I even suggested this to my relatives and now I have a big happy Idea family.
My most recent relation with ABG is through ABSL AMC Ltd. When I was about to start my first investment, I was so confused and hence I did a lot of research and analysis. Finally, I zeroed down to one fund and chose one of the best from ABSL funds. I am now a frequent investor in the wide range of mutual funds by ABSL for my long-term financial goals.
How I made an impact
I started my career as a banker at IDBI Bank Ltd. As I was posted on probation at a Semi-Urban branch I had to learn and understand different aspects of banking very quickly. Being a small branch consisting of only 5 permanent members there was a lot of work assigned to a single person. Within my short period at the branch, I was able to handle different desks as I was given an additional charge when another member was on leave. This helped me to get a basic idea of all the operations going on at the branch. This knowledge came into use during one of the Audit periods when the Branch Head was on leave and the other members had been transferred to another branch. Of all the people in the branch, I was given the responsibility of handling the Auditors and making sure that everything was maintained properly. The branch head had great faith in me. I had to coordinate all the operations at the branch during the three-day audit period which included ensuring proper hospitality for the auditors, assigning works to other non-permanent staff members, maintain the balanced working of the branch, etc. This situation helped me a lot in developing my leadership and decision-making skills. The branch head was so impressed with my efforts and I was able to get into his good books. He even referred to me has his right-hand man during my farewell speech. This was a great achievement for me in my life
