I used to run a baking business from my home, parallel to my job. I used to make cakes, croissants, macarons, brownies, cookies etc. I usually used to set dessert tables for family get togethers, birthday parties, christening, housewarming etc. My journey to a home baker was not at all easy. But I had this fire of passion to serve people burning within me which kept me going. And this is the exact reason that I can connect to Aditya Birla Group. Getting the cakes done with perfection with no compromise for taste, texture and appeal was one of the biggest challenges. There were times when I had to start from starch all over again when things went wrong and yes, I was ready to work hard to make it perfect even it needed multiple trials. Transportation of this highly delicate and perishable stuff to the venue and setting the dessert tables was yet another task. Many a times things have gone wrong and it was with the help of my presence of mind that I could make the last-minute changes and make it look even better. With grit, determination and hard work I had made this a successful venture of mine. I used to get accolades for my innovation, like for making small dolls, unicorns, teddy bear etc. An incident that I really can not forget is when I was supposed to make a two-tier cake for a regular customer of mine. But due to some office work, I reached home late and couldn’t start the work as planned. The easiest option in front of me was to buy a cake from outside, make some decoration changes in it and send it to the customer. But then it would be like I am fooling someone who completely trust me. I took my call, yes it was difficult, I made the impossible happen. I made the cake from scratch. Even though that wasn’t the best cake in my career, I am proud of the decision I took which never let me compromise on my ethics. This incident, however short, is significant enough to reflect my personality and values in which I possess.
I believe that a leader is one that knows the way, goes the way and shows the way and the best leader has a higher consideration factor to really care about the people.
