Part A: Tell us why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life.
ABG has always been a household name in India. Just digesting the fact that an Indian company founded decades before the country's independence has not only survived these many years but is also leading others on a global front, brings in a sense of pride to me and to every other citizen of the country. The will power of the ABG to overcome the innumerable political and business challenges it faced over a century showcases its brilliance at work. I find ABG ubiquitous in India. In fact a lot of credit must be owed to ABG in building India for what it is today. The sheer size and types of business that ABG is into, made me go through my life interacting with the ABG's products on a daily basis. ABG has made life much easier not only for every Indian, but also to millions of people across the globe.
To start with, ABG's UltraTech Cement is very close to my heart for it has not just built homes, it has in fact built families across the country. UltraTech Cement being the largest manufacturer of concrete in the country, has not just facilitated building houses and office buildings but have also greatly aided in building schools and institutions of education across the country. For many of my near and dear ones who worked at UltraTech, often recount on how the brand ABG has helped them throughout their lives.It has been one of the nation's institution builders, building the 'Temples of Modern India' - schools and educational institutes.
Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited has been a fashion power house in Asia. Allen Solly, Pantaloons, Peter England, Louis Philippe are brands which are designed with the quality in mind and customer in heart. ABG has facilitated the reach of these best brands to the Indian middle class. It helped me and millions of others have access to top quality clothes at affordable prices. From Hindalco which is the worlds largest aluminium rolling company, whose aluminium foils formed a part of my lunchbox, to Idea Cellular-Vodafone telecom services which is connecting number of people across the world, ABG is more than just a brand to me. ABG stand as testament to the India's call for " Vasudheva Kudumbakam - wherein The World is One Family". ABG is not only contributing to the growth of India but also to that of the world. Thai Rayon, an ABG company aids Thai enterprises and contributes significantly to the economy of Thailand.
For 250 words are not sufficient to explain the services of ABG which is spanning for over 160 years. For the services of ABG to the country and to the humanity, I thank and I salute.
Part B :
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far.
"Challenge" is a word which I respect if not revere the most. For I am greatly indebted and thankful to the challenges for making me a better version of myself. I am not really able to relate to how I overcame the challenges in my life, but I definitely learnt from them and equipped myself for a better future. I strongly believe that challenges are things which one should not only try to overcome but also understand, analyze, and make it easier for the future generations who happen to take the roads similar to that of us.
I consider challenges as lessons. One of my most cherished lessons in life had the question paper titled " IAF Fighter Pilot ". I aspired to be a fighter pilot. I dream't of doing a sortie in MIG-21 and my mobile was loaded with fighter plane games. I cleared AFCAT in 2014, but my aspirations were cut short as the microns level in my eyes were very low and I found that I would not be able to clear the medicals of IAF. But my first lesson showed me a new road which lead to the doors of my second lesson. My second had its title " All India Civil Services". During my AFCAT preparation, I happen to study about civil services exam and I could immediately feel the connect with the subjects and the services. I quit my job and started my civils preparation only to find that UPSC is a marathon which needs a constant financial support to fund the preparation. So,again I took up a job and started balancing my work and studies.Three years, three beautiful years of my preparation which I will cherish forever did not bring any change in the results. My results for 2016, 2017, 2018 had two words in common ,"Not Qualified".
But the value addition which I got from my second lesson was immense. It made me much more humbler, wiser and a better human being than whom I was three years back. I owe it to my challenges for it was the lessons from my preparation for civil's that helped me get a seat into one of the top colleges in the country.To quote Mr.Steve Jobs,"You cant connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards.So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in the future" Challenges are like dots. We have to trust that they will connect in the future. They are like treasures which must be cherished. I happily look forward to unearth many such treasures in the future.
