Aditya Birla Group is a brand that doesn’t need an introduction. Their ever-ranging products like apparels, viscose staple fiber, metals, cement, carbon black, fertilizers, chemicals, insulators, financial services, telecom are a part of every Indian household some way or the other. ABG group with its versatile market presence is an established brand name that has touched lot of lives. We all remember the impactful advertisment series by Idea cellular by the tagline “What an Idea Sirji”.
ABG has touched my life in various ways that I probably didn’t even realize at times. The indistinct chatters of my school playground during lunch break when I savored my favorite Aloo Paraatha wrapped in Freshwrapp to the nervous heartbeats when I walked into my first interview dressed in formals that I bought from Van Huesen, ABG has been walking with me indefinitely.
Not only products, ABG group has million other ways of leaving footprints in the sands of time. Their CSR activities related to education, health care and sustainable livelihood make the brand stand tall and proud. Last year I came across something that left a huge impact on my life. It was around March and I had just discovered that I won’t be able to go home for Holi due to some urgent work in office. Holi is celebrated in my hometown with a great pomp and show. I had just got off the phone with my mother who was equally sad as I would be alone on the festival. With a heavy heart I opened my laptop and started scrolling through social media feed, feeling jealous of the happy people who were with their families on the festival. Suddenly I saw an advertisement which just transformed my day. It was an advertisement campaign called #ColoursofGrey by UltraTech cement to add some colors to life of masons who use grey colored cement to build strong foundations for our dream homes but are not fortunate enough to celebrate a festival with the same zeal. The advertisement shook me, and I decided to go out and try to bring some happiness in their life rather than sulking at home. There were a few construction sites near my place. I bought some sweets, clothes and toys and distributed it among a few workers and their children who were working on a site nearby. I celebrated Holi with those children and the kind of happiness that day gave me is ineffable.
Overcoming challenges in Life:
My father was in a transferable job and we used to move to a new city, every three to four years. Usually these cities were not very developed, and the quality of education was not good. So, when I passed my eight standard my mother took a tough decision of moving to Lucknow with me and my younger sister. There I was admitted into Delhi Public School. On first day of school I was very nervous as I was not well versed with the school environment in big cities. The academic curriculum here was also very different as my previous schools were affiliated with ICSE board while my new school was a CBSE board school. Just before I was starting from home, my mother gave me a hug and told me to believe in myself and never let any situation overpower my confidence. Strong headed as I always was, I decided not to be afraid of the challenges on my way and face them with determination. I made great friends on the first day itself and the journey ahead was what they say, “The best days of my life”.
