PART A : Why Aditya Birla group is big in your life
There are very few instances in the life of an ordinary man where he is able to see that something or someone is able to touch each and every aspect of his life. In today’s fast paced world where each individual or a company is looking to capture profits by focusing on one thing, we witness some corporations who solely strive hard to help society as a whole, Aditya Birla Group being one of them. Being a part of the Fortune 500 companies and having a huge presence in 42 countries, Aditya Birla Group still maintains in its vision and mission which is to deliver superior value to its customers, shareholders, employees and society at large.
Being a resident of Mumbai, one of the proudest moment for the city was when the construction of the much awaited Bandra Worli Sea Link was finally finished. The bridge not only reduced the travel time for a lot of people
but is also recognized as one of the greatest engineering marvels in Mumbai where the bridge had to bear the might of the Arabian Sea. The trust in the bridge was automatically increased when it was known that the largest cement manufacturing company had contributed in the construction of such a marvelous bridge (0.1 Million MT of Ultratech Cement used). The moto of Ultratech Cement (Aditya Birla Group) that they contribute towards making India beautiful and connected was truly achieved. Thus, Aditya Birla Group with its core values has found its way not just in my life but in the life of every Mumbaikar too.
PART B : How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far
Martin Luther King Jr once said “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy”. Challenges in truer sense gives us an option whether to face it and overcome it or to let the challenge overwhelm you. I would say I have had the opportunity to face such a challenge at my workplace.
I was a front-end developer working in a banking project. Being in a banking project I have had opportunities to work on high important projects such as implementation of VAT, customer analytics, customer risk calculation, etc. Each project that I had completed had its own set of unique challenges, some had code complexities, some had functionality issues, etc. But the biggest challenge I had faced was during the implementation of VAT for the bank. The bank had been given a strict deadline of one and a half month to comply so the pressure on us was immense too, as we had to deliver the project in a month. One of the challenges I faced was that I had just completed half year in the team and was not ready to implement a project on such a large scale, also the project included changes in almost each screen of the interface and interaction with other systems. But I was not going to give up because of my inexperience of such a big project, I was given a Knowledge Transfer session by the senior and was also assigned a mentor for help. After clearing all my doubts, I had immediately begun my work and had to work the entire month, weekends included in order to deliver the project quickly and efficiently. For my efforts in the project I was praised by all my superiors and had also received the ‘Star of the Month Award’.
