Aditya Birla Group: Touching Millions in the World
A US $44.3 billion corporations, a conglomerate of 38 companies, an employer of 120,000 employees (belonging to 42 nationalities), a proud enlisted company in Fortune 500, and many more insignia under its sleeves, Aditya Birla Group is too big to describe. The legacy started with Seth Shiv Narayan Birla and followed by Mr. Ghanshyam Das Birla, who set up industries in critical sectors such as textiles and fiber, aluminum, cement, and chemicals. Adding to it, Aditya Vikram Birla established the first India-based multinational and brought pride to India by putting her on the world map. Now, under the able chairmanship of Kumar Mangalam Birla, ABG strongly holds its position as a leading player in different sectors in India and the world.
ABG’s presence in my life is to a vast extent. Apparel brands like Allen Solly, People, Forever 21, Van Huesen, Liva and Louis Philippe have been a part of my wardrobe since forever. Multi-brand stores like pantaloons have proven to be a game-changer in my life in terms of affordability. I have been using Vodafone for 4 years and undoubtedly it is one of the fastest networks. Food served in tiffins wrapped with Freshwrapp helps the food to stay fresh for long. My brother is a pass out from Sarala Birla Academy, one of the most prestigious institutes in India. The educational institutions have impacted the lives of many positively. Many sectors like cement have been a part of my life indirectly.
‘Being challenged in life is inevitable, being defeated is optional’- Roger Crawford
Challenges are part and parcel of life which is inevitable. Hardships and ambitions go hand in hand. Tough situations help us become a strong person physically as well as emotionally. It depends on the individual on how they tackle the situation and overcome the challenges.
One of the challenges that I faced previously was the decision of choosing my career. After my under graduation in B.com, I was still confused with Fashion Designing and Entrepreneurship which are two very different career fields. It seemed to be a very tough situation as I had way too little time to take a call for my future studies. After a lot of thought process and research, I came up with a solution. I decided to combine them both and establish my own clothing brand in the future. So, I decided to work on the idea and do an International Master in Business. This would give me a lot of exposure to Indian as well as foreign market. One wrong decision could have affected my future adversely. But the perseverance and determination in me helped me overcome the challenge. I also got to learn a lot of life lessons from the challenge and the way I overcame it. Patience, dedication, determination, optimism, and conviction in me helped me make the right decision. They helped me to be where I am right now and the strength to work on my ambitions.
