I belong to a family which derives its roots from the Villages of West Bengal. My ancestors have been into farming for ages, my uncle has been working deeply in the sector since he was 5. He has been a strong source of motivation for me since childhood.
During my childhood I use to visit my village during my summer vacations and stay with my uncle. During my evening strolls into the farms I use to hear about bad weather, crop failures, poor seeds and many other harvesting difficulties which the farmers use to face on daily basis. “Farmer”, when the word comes to my mind all I can think of is the most selfless individual in this society who feeds others but is unable to feed his own family. These people who were struggling daily with these issues had minimal technology and solutions to these issues in their area. These problems made survival difficult for these individuals and their families.
In the Indo Gangetic belt because of adverse weather conditions the soil is not able to provide enough nourishment to the crops for growth which is a big trouble for the farmers. To counter critical issue like these and many others which are big hurdles for our farmer, Indo Gulf Fertilisers is working on developing solutions varying from sowing to harvesting. The brand “Birla Shaktimaan” is a paradigm in itself and does not require any introduction and its wide impact are clearly visible in the Indo Gangetic Belt. With life changing milestones like introducing the first Neem coated Urea in 2003 to providing formulations of macro and micro nutrients providing complete nutrition for vital crops like paddy, wheat, potato, sugarcane and corn, the brand has greatly improved the life of farmers in this country.

That is ABG for me, changing lives of the agriculture which ensures that we eat today despite of their own uncertainty of tomorrow. One has rightly said “Prosperous farmers make a prosperous nation and when the farmers are in trouble, the nation is in trouble”. ABG through its innovative solutions is ensuring that the nation progresses without any obstacle in its way. This makes ABG big in my life because its solutions are driving basic necessity of survival in this world thereby enhancing lives of millions across the globe.
At the core of the ABGLP program are people who drive to make an impact, irrespective of what challenges they face. Tell us, how you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far.
I belong to a family where both my father and mother have a good education; this ensured a quality education for me. But apart from education I felt that I had to do something for the society. My grandmother use to say that it is through small changes in society one makes a great nation. These were the words which engraved themselves in the back of my mind and is the driving force of my life. Since my graduation days I have been part of different NGO activities. I started with teaching underprivileged kids in nearby villages of Pilani. There we were responsible for creating likeliness towards education among the kids. I along with a team of 18 people conceptualized activity-based learning techniques to enhance the learning culture among kids. This not only led to birth of new learning environment but increased educational level among kids also. Later on we as team identified a nearby community comprising majorly of daily wage labourers, the kids there had no exposure to education and basic health. The team conducted health sessions for the kids and their parents along with imparting basic education to them. These actions slowly led to an impact on the area as our end goal was to develop the community and the best method to do was to impart education among the people. I still feel pride as I say that post us our juniors got all the students admitted into schools through Right to Education Act. Now the kids go to school on daily basis and their parents see a new hope in their lives. These experiences showed me that sometimes results of your efforts might take some time but would be visible with time. All these initiatives had a different method and a different target group and a different set of challenges but the intent was same i.e. development of a better society for others. During all these works we faced multiple challenges which included lack of resources, society stereotyping which involved not sending girls to schools, language barrier, lack of trust and barrier to new ideas. It is said that it doesn’t matter how many challenges you face if you like the job you will overcome it and the same happened with me. All the problems which seemed humongous at first were tackled with patience, teamwork and perseverance. #FACINGCHALLENGES #SPJIMR
