Mumbai, one of the major cities in the world and the financial capital of India. It is the home of many magnificent architectures and one such architecture marvel is the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, it was the Ultra-tech cement ‘The Engineer’s Choice’ that was used to make it stand strong. Be it making an architecture marvel or just making the dream of building your first house, come true. Aditya Birla Group has made it all possible, it’s presence is felt in massive buildings and in the microscopic Birla nano-carbon particles used in making the tyres of our vehicles safer, it is in the aluminium foils used to wrap up our chocolates, lunch boxes, the clothes we wear and even in the cover glasses of our phones. We have all benefited from the range of products provided by Aditya Birla Group.
When I think of Aditya Birla Group and the impact it has made in my life, it takes me back to the day when I was called for my first job interview and I needed to buy a set of new formals, the first stop I made was at Pantaloons, it is my favorite fashion and retail shop, it is a one-stop destination to all the different kinds of outfits you are looking for, it was here that I bought my first pair of formals. And being offered the job, when I received, my first salary I went back to Pantaloons to buy a kurta for my mother and a pair of shirts for my father even though I had no clear idea as to what to buy specifically in the male section of the shop, the customer service executives made sure that I was shown a range of products according to my specifications and I was finally able to make a choice. It was the service they provided and the relationship of trust and value they established with me, that makes me come back for more. All of my and my family member's birthday shopping, the last-minute rush of picking up a gift for my best friend, Pantaloons is my go-to shopping destination.
Aditya Birla Group has played a part in almost all of my life’s milestones, after being selected in my dream college ‘IIM Tiruchirappalli’, I was super excited to buy my first ever formal suit and I found myself going back to Pantaloons with a range of choices form ‘Allen Solly’, ‘Van Heusen’, ‘Peter England’ I was able to buy my business suit which was a perfect fit.
After I moved to Tiruchirappalli to pursue an MBA at #IIMTrichy, it was my first time living by myself, away from my parents but through the 4G connectivity provided by my Vodafone-Idea Sim card, I was constantly connected with them, it was as if the distance did not exist between us.
Aditya Birla Group has also touched a lot of lives by providing healthcare to the poor people in 50,000 villages, they have helped the deaf and mute children by providing them cochlear implant surgery and now are able to hear and speak. They help provide quality education to the children from the interiors, they also foster the cause of girl education and have set up residential schools for girls. It has inspired us to do more and has become a legacy. And to answer the question in the title, it is indeed Aditya Birla Group that has created a BIG impact in all of our lives.
Challenges are a part of our life they come and go, it’s up to us how we decide to deal with them, whether we choose to fight and overcome them or just let them get the worst of us. Right from my childhood, I have been a very shy kid, I didn’t talk too much with anyone. What I enjoyed doing was sit in a tiny corner of a room and draw or just dance by myself. In my school days, I found it difficult to speak or answer in a room full of people, even when I was right, fearing what they might think of me. This fear held me back from developing self -confidence, public speaking, interpersonal and social skills.
My parents were aware of my liking towards dance and they enrolled me to a Bharatanatyam dance class, it was here that I learned to express my emotions through dance, even though I was fearful of the judgment I might receive from the people, I still challenged myself to let go of my fears and performed in front of an audience of 500 people.
I was the part of the Sea Cadet Corps which gave me an opportunity to participate in the starting contingent of the Navy Day Parade, the then Chief of Western Naval command had personally chosen me to stand in the front line of the parade along with cadets and officers of the Indian Navy, this experience helped me build confidence in myself.
During my under-graduation college years, I took it upon myself to experiment with whatever interests me and give it a try without fearing the judgment of strangers. I participated in cultural activities and I was able to give a solo performance of Hip Hop, and I managed to shock many of my friends and family members. I also participated in drama, research paper competitions and I was able to shed my shyness and interact with my teachers, peers, and seniors. It helped me gain a vast amount of knowledge and I made connections for life.
With the experience that I have gained over the years and what I have learned from it is that I don’t need to care about what other people think about me. And only, if I believe in myself I can do and achieve whatever I set my eyes upon. And that’s the mantra I swear to live by.
