Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life?
Aditya Birla Group, the name which is more often heard or said directly or indirectly through its different products. ABG justifies its tagline of " Big in your Life". Big because ABG has its presence in almost everything we can imagine. Being a management student, Guest Lectures and corporate meetings are must for us and for that we need formals and from where I have all my collections: Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Peter England and Louis Philippe all being a part of ABG. The fashion industry is not just about formals for ABG, it even has its presence in great fashion style like Pantaloons, People, Planet Fashion. And I am sure all of us would have bought something or the other from these places sometime in our life. Also, when I had visited Mumbai and was crossing the Bandra-Worli Sealink, I was astonished to see the construction of it and later realized that 0.1 million mt of UltraTech Cement from ABG was used. Hence, for ABG Big means massive.
We have cars and it has tyres and what makes the tyres safer? ABG Birla Carbon nano particles. Insulators used in railways which makes our journey possible is made by Grasim Industries which is the world’s 4th largest producer of insulators, again from Aditya Birla Group. Also, ABG is like a lifeline to us because a large share of the copper requirement of Indian Railways is fulfilled by Birla Copper. ABG is also in our palm because Hindalco aluminium is used to make cover glass for smartphones, also to make foils with which I wrap my food every day. ABG also makes it possible for the distance between my family disappear by introducing us to Vodafone Idea Limited. I have a MORE store near my house so shopping from MORE again makes ABG Big in life. Having Birla Sun Life Insurance says it all. Also, my father and brother have done their graduation from BIT Mesra and BITS Pilani respectively which makes ABG all the more important in our life. Our family is earning because of the education opportunity provided by ABG. Installation of Bio-gas plant, constructed hospitals, schools, etc has made ABG Big for everyone.
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?
Following our dreams is one of the most difficult things to do in today's competitive world. Like most of the people in this generation even I had a career plan and set realistic short goals, to reach the larger one which also included getting admission in a reputed B-School in order to learn and develop a personality to influence people. It all started in 2014 when I started preparing for MBA. First time when I wrote CAT exam in 2014, I couldn't understand what just happened and scored bad. Next year, I joined a coaching institute to understand from the experienced people how these MBA exams work and how should I prepare for it. Better than previous year but still my score was not satisfactory. It was the time I started doubting and questioning my calibre. There was a sudden downturn in my life which made me think all negative things like I am not as smart as others, I would be leading a mediocre life unlike my peers.
But then there was something inside me which kept telling me to give it a try again, what worse can happen? I already have a good job but then my thirst to get an admission in a B-School was not fulfilled. So I decided to gather myself and started to prepare for CAT and NMAT while still working for my previous organization. I gave CAT and NMAT 2016 scores improved a bit, got little more confidence and then finally cracking NMAT 2017 and receiving the interview call and later receiving the offer letter to join NMIMS, Bangalore made me believe in the line what my father also said to me " There is no substitute for hard-work".
