"Be quick. We are getting late..!” my friends were whooping from the hostel rooms. After a lot of hard work and struggles of college event, we decided to have fun together in a funfair, which was hardly 4 kms from the college campus. We were very happy and excited to experience the thrilling rides. The crowd and the ambience rejuvenated us from the core. Without wasting any time, we rushed towards our favourite and breath-taking ride ie. Roller Coaster in cohesion. I occupied the corner seat of the ride as it gives a more holistic view of the whole. As soon as it started, we were screaming at our optimum level. It was joy and fun altogether.
As rightly said, there is no guarantee of the next moment. Suddenly I was flying in the air and then I felt like a nasty blow on my head. When I opened my eyes, I was surrounded by doctors and nurses. I figured out that I had been fallen from Roller Coaster due to the dismantled safety belt. Inspite of the bad medical emergency service at the funfair and few hospitals in the vicinity, I was fortunate to be shifted in Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital for examination. The doctors were highly qualified to provide the best possible treatment. The staff was humble and co-operative with all the formalities needed to be completed by parents. They also ensured to maintain the positive energy around for quick healing. The care and affection which I received at Aditya Birla Hospital made me feel at home and accelerated my recovery. Aditya Birla Medical Insurance came as a blessing in this situation, which provided concession and addressed all the expenses occurred during my treatment. Cashless payment system ensured the hassle-free experience for us. In this chaotic environment, I came across the values of Aditya Birla Group. Its main focus was customer delight and ensure ease life. No wonder due to its core values, Aditya Birla Group is successfully operating in 35 countries and among the Fortune 500 companies.
Challenges are the part and parcel of life, which is necessary for self-growth. In my final year of Engineering, I was fortunate to get placed in one of the renowned organization M/s Siemens Ltd. On the first day of joining, I was surprised to see hardly any girl working in the manufacturing area of switchgear. I was the supervisor of 20 male technicians for the gas-insulated switchgear production line. It was very tough to get the work done from them as they had a fixed mindset that no girl can supervise them and work in the core industry. Under these circumstances, my manager assigned the documentation work to me as a gender stereotype. Also, in any quality inspections of the product with the client, it became difficult to convince them for the quality deliverables from my end, considering the insufficient work experience of women in the manufacturing sector. But after facing many hurdles for two months and doing overtime, I proved everyone that success and work are independent of gender and age.
Later when I applied for MBA in Marketing in the top B-schools, the same gender stereotypes were built preferring men over women. It was a clear reflection in interviews for college and placements. Again I was reluctant for creating my own image and fought against gender discrimination, proving myself to be a perfect fit for Marketing in the highly competitive environment.
Hence, it's rightly said that strength doesn’t come from what you can do, but from overcoming things once you thought was impossible.
