Established in 1857, the year when the first war for Independence took place, Aditya Birla Group is now one of the premium global conglomerates already making it one among the Fortune 500 companies. They have played an important role in changing the entire scenario of a major chunk of the Indian cities. Not just leading in domestic markets in various sectors like fashion retail, cement manufacture or viscose filament yarn, but they have also made an impact globally in fields like aluminium rolling and recycling, carbon black etc. Little did I know while buying my first set of formals from Peter England that it was the part of the big Aditya Birla family. From that day onwards it had become my first choice whether it was buying Van Heusen shirts or a Louis Phillipe coat for my B-school interviews. There’s even a very high possibility that the aluminium body of my laptop was manufactured in one of the Hindalco plants. Basically, their reach this deep into the consumer base reflects the trust and the reputation that it has built over the years. All of it could have only been possible due to a dynamic leadership. Aditya Birla Group also associates itself in various social responsibilities like running 56 schools, operating 20 hospitals, 4500 Self Help Groups and many more. Their commitment towards the country and the world has inspired many of the budding entrepreneurs like us to think big and make an impact at the global stage while taking care of the society as well.

CHASING YOUR DREAMS #IIM TRICHY

All my life I have seen a lot of ups and downs which has made me feel many a times that nothing good is to come out of it. When all the doors seem to shut in front of you, that small ray of hope is the only thing that you can make the most out of. Life has really taught me that there’s no giving up no matter how tough the things in front of you seem to be. One such moment of my life was when I was working a couple of years back for an MNC. Although the moments that I spent at that place were among the best of my lives there was a sense of fear that had crept inside me. This fear was because of the complacency that I had developed over the months working there. This feeling of not doing justice to the potential I had or the knowledge and skills that I had gained over the years, haunted me every night. Many nights ended in tears just because of that cloud of uncertainty hovering above me. My work involved a lot of rigor and my laziness to the take that risk to get out of my comfort zone didn’t help much. But I am really lucky to have such supportive parents and siblings who helped me get out that situation. There was always a big risk to give up a job, but it was that particular trait of risk which I was targeting to learn. Finally, I was going after something which I really aspire for and fortunately cleared my CAT exams to make myself worthy of the place I currently belong i.e. IIM Trichy.
