'Aditya Birla-Makes it Big!'-Shubham Pandit,NMIMS Mumbai

When someone says, ‘big in your life’, I perceive it as the most impactful thing in my life. I then turn back and see the significant moments that made an impact and are still there with me. So, it’s the first house that we built 20 years ago, I grew up there, started my school and college, completed my education, my brother got married. This house has seen most of my life and is still standing strong with all of us. This has made an impact and for the same reason is ‘big for me’. Now I could understand, how a building made of concrete cement can be big for you. But then I trace back, when you say cement, I understand just one brand Aditya Birla Group’s ‘Ultratech Cement-India’s No 1 Cement’. I then realize this group has been there with me throughout my life and is still there, with an amazing collection of Brands and Products. Starting with my mobile network, Vodafone-Idea, world’s second largest mobile network Provider company, with wide range of Network and services. I have my bed sheets made from Linen, so Brand Linen Club again an Aditya Birla Group Brand. Fashion for me has always been Pantaloons which offers brands like ‘Peter England’,’ Van Heusen’, ’Allen Solly’ and several others. About 7.5 Million people from the weaker section of the society has seen their life change through the CSR initiative. It has made a huge impact in the lives of school going children. Through the Self-Help groups, they have setup Solar Urja lamp assembly units which are distributed to school going children. Thus, helping the children as well as the Women. All these things are integral part of my life and Aditya Birla group has nurtured them for me and made them big.

‘How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far’   I believe without challenges you never feel that you have achieved something in your life. The biggest challenge that stood before me was of matching the quick learning abilities of my school classmates. I could see they used to grasp way faster than me, manage things better and performance wise were way ahead of me. So, I started questioning myself, is it because I am like this by birth or I am not able to match because of my internal lacking? I started researching on this, contacted few counselors, all suggested optimistically that there is always a scope of improvement which you are not able to see. They suggested one of the reasons that you are not able to make your right brain work faster. One of the best ways to do the same is learning ‘Abacus’. So, I started learning Abacus, initially it threw a lot of challenges because it's totally mental exercise but with practice and patience I cleared levels of Abacus and I think it has helped me up my levels of learning faster and brought me near the level playing field. Other than that, when you belong to a humble background, you are always challenged financially. To deal with this, I started working academically to achieve scholarships and I was at the top in the list of Scholarship receivers each year in engineering.
