With the declaration of results for new IIMs, a lot of aspirants are spending quite a significant amount of time on Pagalguy .Well, having been in a similar position last year, I can understand their anxiety , their hunger for any useful information and un-ending wait to check waitlist movement. Although Pagal Guy is a great platform to communicate with official Adcom members and authentic peers to clear doubts, however spending unnecessary time checking each and every feed, every dubious poll result and indulging in cuss discussions with anonymous profiles will serve no purpose. While you may argue what is the harm in just scrolling over all the feed? In reality, it subconsciously feeds with a lot of negativity by some unscrupulous elements has a negative impact on  your decision making. While going through the polls and feed, many of the information in pagalguy threads is not genuine. Many people have vested interests and try to distort the feed to serve their own purpose. You might have also seen many whistle blower posts. There are 2 possible cases, they are aspirants trying to distort the information to serve their own purpose or some student from the same college. In the case of the former, it is a very low game played by them and does not deem fit for a future manager or leader. I case of latter; I can only sympathise with them. You have to understand that not every student in every college will pass with flying colours. Some have human tendency to project their failures on the world instead of dealing with it. Otherwise, would any sound human being wash their dirty linen in public forum? Will a sound human, bad mouth his country or family or alma matter on an outside forum? I would rather suggest her / him to appreciate what she/he has and rather work to improve it. Thus, a better methodology to decide upon a college is to engage with alumni and current members of your potential college on LinkedIn. Send a request along with a message, I am sure most of the students in every decent college would like to help you, if you seek help genuinely. If you have not updated your LinkedIn profile, it is worth spending your time in creating your digital presence and brand than toiling unnecessary on Pagal guy. Also do your research. Talk to friends in industry to know their perception, talk to genuine mentors in institutes and look at past 3-year placement reports. In addition, look for B-school competitions floated in the respective college, a lot of information would also be available at D2C and inside IIM. At the end of it, as a future manager , make an analytical decision by making an excel sheet which has following parameters like placement, B-school accreditation, fees, academics, hostel facilities, location and proximity to home,  alumni and any other parameters which you deem fit. It is not a one size fits all decision. Assign the weightage and score to each category and come up with a final weighted score. In the end, for colleges close to final score, trust your intuition, somehow it knows what is right for you. Another humble request, do not ask “whether a college XYZ is worth it”? It is insulting for any student in that deemed college to measure worth of her/ his college. For every student, her/ his alma matter is special if it has helped her / him to grow as an individual, improve his knowledge and expand his consciousness. Most of us have been brought up in educational institutions where education is revered equivalent to spirituality. We collectively need to respect it and every student in every college, lets not make a new fault line out of it. In the end, no matter what decision you make, please be content , stand firm with it and try to make the most out of it. Thanks, wish you all success. May you get the best college you deserve. #MBA2020-2022 #Admissions2020
