Aditya Birla Group, founded in 1857 by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla, has evolved into the third largest private sector conglomerate in India, operating in more than 35 countries and employing around 1.2 lakh people all over the world. The group indulges in a wide portfolio of businesses ranging from non – ferrous metals to fertilisers to retail, financial, telecommunications and wind power. Some of the most famous brands include Ultratech Cement, Van Heusen, Peter England, Louis Philippe, Vodafone Idea Ltd, Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance, among a host of others. The impact of ADITYA BIRLA GROUP in my life originates from two of its flagship products, which I explain in detail below:
My tryst with Aditya Birla Group started at an early age of 10 years, when I remember seeing posters of Ultratech Cement. At that time, I didn’t have any idea about who owns the brand and what was the purpose of it. All that I remember is the name of the company written in black letters on a yellow background, a trademark associated with the iconic Aditya Birla Group. Later as it turned out, Ultratech Cement has played a crucial role in the construction of various buildings we have purchased as well as a home which is in the construction phase at our hometown in Visakhapatnam. Apart from the superior quality it offers, the one thing that stands out for me on a personal level is the personal contact the brand maintains with its customers. In the ever dynamic world of stiff competition among corporate giants, it is imperative for an aspiring brand to maintain close contact with all its stakeholders and in this regard I am impressed with the ABG. While it could be considered business complete once the product is delivered to the end consumer, Ultratech has incorporated a unique culture of post sales interaction by collecting samples and testing the strength of concrete mix prepared using cement purchased from them and testifying the obtained results, which is a crucial step in communicating the responsibility of the firm towards its customer.
Along with their business line, Ultratech has contributed actively to the development of the regions surrounding factories, by making the local communities their business partners, co creating value for local businesses as well as spending heavily on improving the infrastructure, thus playing a crucial role in building the infrastructure in the country and participating in the process of nation development.
Next comes VAN HEUSEN, a constituent of ADITYA BIRLA FASHION AND RETAIL LTD. I have been associated with this brand for quite some time in the sense that a significant portion of my wardrobe consists of apparels purchased from both VAN HEUSEN and PETER ENGLAND. The striking feature in my view is the ease of usage, in that they provide comfort and can be maintained for a long time without any discomfort.
To conclude, ADITYA BIRLA GROUP, being a leading conglomerate in INDIA has been playing an active part in the development of nation by indulging in a wide variety of sectors, thereby contributing to the growth of respective arenas of business and providing to employment to a huge chunk of Indian population at large.
