The date was 2nd of April 2018 when my journey with Airtel began. It was a dream come true moment for me to spend the next two months with the industry stalwarts as a Management Intern from IIM Lucknow. My stint started with a 3 days well planned induction where I was exposed to all the functions of Airtel while having some fun activities from time to time. The induction came out to be a true reflection of the culture of Airtel where work and play go side by side. The induction ended with a telecom simulation game which itself a true learning experience and having won that gave me a booster to take on my project the next day.
Now, the time of real working came. I was so excited to look at my project details and meet my mentors. Among all this excitement, I got a surprise as my project was based on GST implication on Airtel Payments Bank. As a software engineer all throughout my work experience and in my graduation, I was up for an uphill task. On the other side, it was a great learning opportunity and a challenging project. After spending first two weeks in studying and understanding the GST and its implementation here, my project finally made sense.
As time passed, I started completing my key deliverables. Soon, I got my first success. One part of my project was successfully completed and implemented which built my confidence. I was appreciated by my mentors. Then, throughout my internship, I did not look back. One by one I completed my tasks successfully. The result I got was like a dream come true. I have managed to save a substantial amount of GST for the bank with my project. These two months have given me loads of learning along with the most important lesson of my life “If you can dream it, you can do it”.
