Amidst The Mountains, In The Valley - IIM Udaipur | Aleeza Shaikh

IIM Udaipur, an institute in the city of lakes, amidst the mountains, in the valley! This itself sets the institute apart from all other conventional educational institutes in our nation. With the picturesque backdrop of the mountains, IIM Udaipur gives us just the right amount of rigor as well as peace in our lives. One of my favorite places on the campus is “The Curved Road” as we call it. A place I go to, to just enjoy the breeze kiss my face! Away from all the worries of assignments and quizzes, this is my hideout to enjoy the tranquillity and some peace of mind.

For all of you who love to read, this is the best place you’d find! Catch a book, and head straight here! I sit down on the parapet, lean against the lamppost and wander away into a different world as I read my book. All our lives’ troubles seem so minuscule in front of the mighty mountains, it’s where I learn how life is much more than just running the race. The best part about this campus is how we’re positioned in a life’s race striving to be the best, and at the same time we’ve been given the experiences of a lovely hill resort.

Go to the curved road early morning, and you’ll hear the sweet chirping of the birds. The variety of birds’ chirping that can be heard – it’s the best melody to our ears. And I’d rather record it to wake up to it as my alarm tone each morning! The cool wind hitting your face while you stand there, is a must have experience for each and every person!

Right next to this curved road is a small elevated area, which is just the right place to enjoy a cool night of camping, bonfire, songs and loads of fun with your friends. All you need is some blankets, a bit of wood to bring up the bonfire, merry people and you’d be set! Seeing this place at night is an altogether different experience. Walking the roads under the yellow street lights, playing with your shadows, making different shapes with all your friends, scaring one another in the darkness. Just a few of the many things that make this place the wonderful place it is.

The view at night is incomplete without the mention of the beautifully lit up, gigantic water tower atop the mountain! Pair that up with a full moon night, and I’d want to stay there all night, lazing around, lying on the parapet, just marvelling at the beautiful scene before me. Surely this place is called The Curved Road, but I guess I’d soon be rechristening it to the “Road of Memories”.
