MDI Gurgaon provides innumerable opportunities in terms of participation in several activities including live projects, competitions and cultural events. Behind the successful implementation of the several activities held at MDI Gurgaon are the committees, academic clubs, event clubs and Student Interest Groups (SIGs). This article is from the series of “Introduction to clubs at MDI Gurgaon” which aims to talk about the myriad activities taking place all round the year, allowing the campus to be filled with life and energy all the time!

Monetrix

Monetrix is the Economics & Finance Club of MDI. The purpose of the club is to push its members to achieve excellence in the field of finance, through which they aim to ensure the sustenance of a thriving culture of finance on campus. To enable this, Monetrix members track various sectors of the world economy and lead verticals which ensure the transfer of knowledge to the student community at large. The club conducts a variety of sessions throughout the year to give students a platform to engage in discussions about recent trends in financial sectors. Monetrix organizes fortnightly Knowledge Sharing Sessions, various national level competitions, its annual Finance Conclave and many events during Imperium. "Monetrix has been one of the best parts of my 1st year in campus. Right from the selection till being designated secretary of the club, it has constantly given me opportunities to both learn and test my abilities. MarQuity

MarQuity, the Marketing club of MDI, aims to instil marketing knowledge in students in a fun and engaging way. MarQuity constantly tries to give the aspiring marketeers of MDI, the best learning exposure, by organizing several online quizzes and contests, live projects, sharing compendiums and sector reports. MarQuity’s flagship national level case study competition is floated in association with Imperium. The online student community is kept engaged through MarQuity’s Facebook page. MarQuity also facilitates industry interaction by organizing guest talks and an annual marketing conclave, MarQConnect, by experts from various domains. “MarQuity offered me a unique opportunity to learn and understand the nitty gritties of Marketing which played an essential role in my learning here at MDI Gurgaon. Being a part of this club not only allowed me to enhance my understanding but also provided me a platform to act as a catalyst in the learning process of my peers by organizing different quizzes, games, events and conclaves on Marketing!” – Pranav Langer, Secretary – MarQuity (2019-2021)

Strategist

Strategist aims to retain, extend and leverage the interest of the students in the area of strategy and acts as a pillar of the strategic activities in the institute. As strategy fits with all the functional areas- finance, marketing, IT, HR, it works closely with all other academic clubs to gain synergies and provide a holistic approach. All the members engage in various activities like M&A Vista, deals analysis, sector study, regular discussions on varied topics including consulting to develop strategic bent of mind. The club came up with Theoretical Compendium and a Case Book which act as a ready reckons. Team Strategist also believes in team spirit which is polished through various games. Being a member of strategist, apart from core knowledge, one cultivates expertise in event management, creativity, marketing of events, team building by being with few of the brightest brains in the country. Strategist also organizes various events at Imperium like Biz Czar, Estimato, etc. “We at Strategist strive to promote consulting practices on the campus. From guesstimates to case interviews we create an environment of learning for all. Opsession

Opsession, the Operations Management Club of MDI Gurgaon, is the go-to-place for the students' fraternity for all things under Operations Management. Over the years, the club has actively engaged the students through series of events and competitions to enthuse them into the field. From resolving queries in the Operations Management area for academics and competitions to conducting events at college and national level, the constant endeavour of team Opsession is to help the student community gain new perspectives and insights in the field of Operations Management. Opsession organizes OPS - TALKS THE ANNUAL OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT CONCLAVE, OPNISCIENT (flagship case study competition) and BEAT-THE-BID, along with many events at Imperium. "Leading the team Opsession has been a great learning experience for me till now. Engaging with industry personnel during various activities has helped us enrich our domain knowledge.”- Ankit Panda, Secretary, Opsession.

HR Direction

HR Direction, the HR academic club of MDI, is a student body aiming to integrate the experiences of practitioners with the theoretical knowledge of academicians in the area of human resource development providing a strong thrust to the domain of HR. The Club organises “Eleusis” an event, every year before & during Imperium. It consists of an initial quiz round which is followed by a case study round which puts the participants in real life problems and aims at obtaining innovative sustainable solutions of the same. Finalists are invited on campus during Imperium. HRd also brings various Live Projects in the HR domain from reputed companies for the students of MDI. Besides these, the club also releases annual compendiums before summers and final placements to help students ace the process. In addition to this, an academic GD-PI compendium is also released in the month of February which helps the aspirants get a brief overview of HR domain. A quarterly magazine “HRScape” is also released by the club. At the heart of the club is the annual Conclave in which top HR heads are invited as key note speakers to talk about leadership, change management, strategic HR, etc. "One can't expect anything less from a club which represents MDI's HR program, and which is amongst the top 3 for HR in India. HR Direction, the HR Club of one of the best B-schools in the country, gave me a lot of friends and memories for a lifetime. It showed me how to get things done and how to deal with difficult situations. It taught me a lot and as a club, we have come a long way. Impulse

Impulse is the International Business Academic club of MDI Gurgaon which provides opportunities for students to learn about international business and trade relations through reading materials and compendiums, case study competitions, research activities on International trade, constant updates on international affairs and topical issues. The aim is to foster knowledge pertaining to global economic and trade activities. It conducts events throughout the year, prominent of them being ‘Seal the Deal: Negotiation War’, ‘Advectius: Case study competition’, and ‘Mock G8 summit’. "The one thing we all want is international exposure and to become a global business leader. IMPULSE caters to those dreamers who don't want to stay limited to Indian boundaries but want to explore all domains from a global perspective. Through its flagship event, Advectius, the IB case study competition, and other academic events like Debunking Prejudice and Seal the Deal, IMPULSE has left an indelible mark as an academic club." - Saimi Arora, Secretary (2019-21), Impulse

Thinc

Thinc is the Business Technology Club of MDI Gurgaon. The club focuses on disseminating relevant information about Information Management domain and strives to keep students updated about the latest happenings from the SMAC domain, digitization via various means. Business and Technology, with both being the bread and butter of the management students of late, the club updates the students about the amalgamation of the same. The club is divided into three verticals namely, Knowledge and Event Management, Live Project and Sponsorship and Creativity & Design. All three verticals work in tandem and ensure successful execution of events all-round the year in an efficient manner. They are also responsible for releasing various newsletters and knowledge sharing sessions organized by the club. The club is also responsible for making various tech related live projects available to the current batches. “It is a great learning opportunity to be the representative of a club that works in the latest upcoming stream in management.
