The annual business fest of Goa Institute of Management,
Samriddhi, came around this year with full throttle. There were 3 days full of competitions, workshops, speaker sessions and a conclave. The students of GIM decided on the theme being “
Unbroken” to celebrate the spirit of never giving up, despite all odds. The speakers were impressed with the theme because the spirit of being unbroken is the most important and, often, the most underrated one. The various highlights of this year’s Samriddhi were as follows:
1. Speaker Sessions: As the tradition goes, Samriddhi always has a set of distinguished people who represent, in themselves, the theme of Samriddhi. This year’s theme being
Unbroken, we had four speakers who personify the idea that is Unbroken. Those speakers were:
2. Conclave: A conclave, “
Dakshata” was held at the premises of GIM. It was a panel discussion about the current start-up scenario in India. The speakers were:
3. Competitions: A number of competitions were held which were specialization-specific, to test the participants on their knowledge of the respective fields. The entries came from B-Schools like
Welingkar, JBIMS, SJMSOM, LBSIM, SIIB, SIMSREE, TAPMI, SIMS(Pune), SIOM (Nashik) and they competed on common grounds. The winners took away exciting prizes along with some amazing memories. They were:
- Beer Game – Supply-Chain simulation based event organized by the Operations Club of GIM “SCOPES”;
- Veditum – An HR case-study based event organized by the HR Club of GIM “HRiday”;
- Nivesh – A trading based competition organized by the Finance Club of GIM “SOFIA”;
- Marketing Conundrum – A marketing case-study based competition organized by the marketing club of GIM “MECCA”;
- Comcentric – A problem solving competition organized by the IT Club of GIM “IT@GIM”
- Cinema-Advert – A short film-making competition held by GIM’s club “Rated Films”
- Chakravyuh – An online quizzing event organized by the Quiz Club of GIM, “Brainvista”
- 4. Workshops: There were 2 workshops held during the Samriddhi days. Both of them were held by professional bodies for the students to get some first-hand practical knowledge about the way the theories work for real. The first workshop was a Digital Marketing Workshop conducted by Digital Vidya. It explained the rise of and nuances in the field of digital marketing, with a special emphasis on social media as a marketing tool. The second workshop was Workshop on Behavioral Finance in Value Investing which was for the finance enthusiasts to provide a beyond-the-classroom experience in the field.
All in all, Samriddhi lived up to its legacy of 8 years and provided an enriching educational experience to the attendees. By the end of the 3 days for which the fest went on, people knew that while life will keep hitting as hard as it can, if you want to keep going, you need to be unbroken.
