Life seems simple. It is 2019. We’ve made it this far. The days haven’t changed much. We’re all getting by with the three necessities of life: Food, clothing, and shelter. Are expectations being met? Sure. Abundantly, in some cases. Let’s start with shelter. Take a look at how homes have evolved since stone-age; trees, caves, bamboo huts, and eventually, sundried bricks. Bricks and cement to build a place that you call home. Today, we live in perfect concrete houses comprising of a roof, windows, and walls. We try to pick the best material while making sure it’s sustainable, and there is only one brand we trust.
Being an MBA student, it is needless to say how some clothing brands are absolute saviors. When one has to wear formals thrice a week at B schools for classes, competitions, guest lectures, and live projects, ‘I have nothing to wear’ is a common complaint. The options for western formal clothes for women in India were always limited. And now, suave formals are easy to find thanks to the available options like that of power dressing. The options for casual clothes just get better making you feel like you’ll stay 21 for eternity.
It’s a fast-paced life. But, picture a lazy Sunday morning. You wake up late and make yourself some breakfast. It’s time to run errands. You go to a mega store and pay your bill on an app with a swift tap on your smart phone, the network you use makes this even easier. Days pass, years pass. Your choices multiply. Your life is insured. Knowingly or unknowingly, every aspect of your life has been taken care of by a brand.
So has ABGL made an impact in my life? A simple yes would be an understatement. There’s a lot to be thankful for. And in return, have I made an impact? When you go beyond the three basic necessities of life, there’s a lot more. Health, education, information, technology, etc. are some of the modern necessities to live a life with dignity. Here, I will focus on education. For most part of my life, I chose the road less traveled. I studied the social sciences. I taught Political Science at a college for a brief period. The fact that there was not a lot of age difference between me and the students was a challenge. Mentoring and molding young minds was a big responsibility. This college was nothing like the college I had studied in, the culture and methods were entirely different. Finding ways to keep the lectures interesting while holding the students’ attention made it an experience to cherish.
Coming to the MBA that I’m currently pursuing, my educational background is different from everyone else’s, which makes some things easy and some things more cumbersome. I’m enjoying the diversity and bracing up for the competition. I’m strong in some aspects and weak in some. The horizons have expanded and I’m enjoying a whole new process of learning that is taking place here. My questions are being answered and the path is getting clearer. Lessons are never-ending and my thirst for knowledge keeps growing. I like what I’m doing. I know where I see myself after two years. By putting my skills and strategies to the best use, I will do justice to this brand.
